Elsa The next day was unbearable. I dragged myself out of bed, feeling heavy and weak. The first thing I did was try calling Adam and Kane again, but it was just more of the same—no answer, no messages, nothing. The silence was deafening, and it ate away at me, piece by piece. I was lost, stuck in this void of uncertainty, and it hurt more than I thought it ever could. Food was the last thing on my mind. When the pack ladies knocked on my door, bringing trays of food and pleading with me to eat, I forced a smile and lied through my teeth. “I’m okay, really.
