Three days had passed since my arrival at the castle, and despite the luxurious amenities and attentive servants, I felt suffocated by the confinement. The prince's instructions to remain indoors until summoned had worn thin.
As evening descended, I stood at the window, mesmerized by the full moon's silvery glow. The castle's grounds, bathed in an ethereal light, seemed to whisper secrets.
That's when I spotted him – the figure in the black hoodie, lurking in the shadows. My heart skipped a beat.
"That's the hidden prince," I thought, my mind racing.
A shiver ran down my spine as I recalled the warning: magic couldn't be used within the palace walls. This was a perilous sign, one I had anticipated before arriving.
"But how did he bypass the palace's defenses?" I wondered.
My priority shifted from curiosity to escape. I needed to leave my room undetected.
"I must find a way out," I resolved.
I surveyed my surroundings, searching for an opportunity. The door was guarded, and the windows, though inviting, were enchanted to prevent escape.
"I'll have to wait for a distraction," I thought.
As I pondered my next move, the figure in black vanished into the darkness.
"Was it a trick of the light, or a deliberate message?" I questioned.
The moon continued its steady gaze, illuminating the castle's secrets and fueling my determination.
"But I knew this beforehand," I reminded myself. "The palace's magical dampening field prevents any supernatural abilities from being used within its walls."
The ruler's clever strategy ensured that even the most powerful beings remained ordinary within the palace. I couldn't rely on my abilities to aid me.
"I must have to be very stealth " I thought.
With newfound determination, I slipped out of my room, navigating the darkened passages with caution. My footsteps echoed softly, and I froze at every creak of the wooden floorboards.
Suddenly, a faint noise caught my attention. I quickly opened the nearest door and slipped inside, holding my breath.
My heart pounded furiously as I strained to listen. The silence was oppressive, and I sensed another presence nearby.
"Who's there?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.
No response.
I waited, my senses heightened. The air seemed to vibrate with tension.
"Am I alone?" I wondered.
"At that moment, I remember that no one was in the corridor or at my door when I walked through the passage. Was it just a coincidence, or was it a deliberate plan? I asked myself
A faint rustle broke the stillness, and I spun around, my eyes scanning the darkness.
A figure emerged from the shadows, features obscured.
I was drenched in sweat, my heart racing with the feeling of being abandon. Fear had taken hold, and I struggled to regain control.
"Why am I afraid?" I berated myself. "I'm not one to cower."
A masculine figure emerged from the shadows, his sturdy build and chiseled features unmistakable. I steadied myself, striving to maintain my emotional balance.
The figure halted before me, his piercing gaze locking onto mine.
"Lavender, what are you doing here?" his voice echoed in my mind.
I recoiled, startled. "You know my name?" I thought, alarm rising.
"You must be the Hidden Prince," I accused, my mental voice firm.
He responded with a low, mocking laughter, the sound resonating through my mind.
"Who's the Hidden Prince?" he asked, his mental tone dripping with amusement. "There's no one by that name in this palace."
I frowned, confusion swirling within.
"Stop communicating with me telepathically," I demanded. "Speak to me physically."
The figure inclined his head, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
"Very well," he said aloud, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine. "I'll indulge you."
He stepped closer, his eyes never leaving mine. "I asked, what brings you to this place, Lavender?"
His voice was low and husky, sending a shiver down my spine.
"You have immense courage," he said, his grip on my neck tightening. "I've longed to see you."
"Let go of me!" I struggled to breathe, my voice strained.
"Why should I?" he retorted, his voice echoing in my mind.
I grasped the hood covering his face, desperate to unveil his identity. But he intensified the pressure on my neck, and darkness began to close in.
Just as I was about to pass out, I caught a glimpse of... nothing. No face, no features, only an unsettling void.
Everything went black.
When I came to, I was in my palace chambers, surrounded by concerned servants. A maid, noticing my awakened state, hastened to inform the prince.
"Keep her confined to her quarters," a voice commanded from the shadows.
. With a trembled voice Derek replied, " Yes, Your Highness"
"You allowed her to escape," the husky voice interrupted, its owner emerging from the darkness.
Derek fell to the ground, cowering. "Please, give me another chance. I'll rectify my mistake."
The husky voice sneered. "You want me dead, don't you?"
Derek cringed. "No, Your Highness! I dare not."
The prince's presence seemed to fill the room, his authority unmistakable.
"A warning, Your Highness: she has awakened," a servant announced from beyond the chamber doors.
The prince's voice dripped with calculation. "She possesses immense power, and her invincibility will serve me well... for now. I require her abilities until I achieve my goals. Once I've extracted what I need, she'll be disposable."
Derek, still cowering, received a stern warning. "Do your duty diligently, Derek. This transgression will not be forgiven, there won't be a next time."
Derek's relief was palpable. "Yes, my lord!" he exclaimed, backing away cautiously before turning to flee.
As Derek departed, a voice from the shadows instructed, "Provide her with everything she requires."Ensure her needs and wants her met.
"Your wish is my command," Derek replied, exiting the chamber with haste. The door creaked shut behind him, enveloping the room in silence.
The prince's gaze shifted toward the darkness, his voice tinged with curiosity and a hint of concern. "Will she truly prove lethal to me?" he asked, his words barely above a whisper.
A faint whisper, tinged with anguish and uncertainty, replied, "You know what have been awakened, Your Highness." Her power is beyond your control " a voice said from within the dark.
The prince's eyes narrowed, his focus drifting toward the moonlit window. The silver glow cast an ethereal light on his face, illuminating the shadows within.
With an air of mystery, he vanished into the night, leaving the chamber shrouded in uncertainty. The darkness seemed to swallow him whole, erasing all evidence of his presence.
"I warned you to stay within your chambers," he said, his voice low and stern. "Why did you disobey?"
"I've been confined to my quarters since arrival," I replied, my tone even. "No friends, just solitude. I craved connection."
"Do you truly desire friendship?" he asked, his gaze piercing.
"Yes, I've longed for it," I admitted.
"Have you ever had a friend?" he queried.
I shook my head.
He raised an eyebrow. "Did someone scold you?"
"The one who hides behind you," I said, my eyes locked on his.
"Who?" he asked, intrigued.
"The one you're trying to protect," I clarified.
He stared at me, his expression unreadable.
"Feel at home," he said, his tone softening. "If you need anything, I'll be at your beckon."
As he approached the door, I called out, "I can help you, you know."
He spun around, his hand instinctively reaching for my neck. "Never say that word again," he warned.
I met his gaze, noticing fear flickering in his eyes.
"Why must you be an object of torment, a tool wielded at whim, a person subjugated by power?" I asked.
He sneered. How is that a concern of yours? You couldn't even challenge him, you got strangled."
I stood tall. "That's because I couldn't use my power. If I could wield it, the unconquerable would be conquered."
His eyes narrowed, intrigued.
