MIRA
As I walked down the streets, my heart hurt and my head felt heavy. I needed a break from him and everything. I wanted a moment to myself as my life has taken a drastic turn.
From celebrating our anniversary and victory to finding him cheating and getting divorced. I continued to saunter down the road when I noticed a familiar car pull beside me on the road and my assistant walked outside to meet me.
“Jerry,” I called out his name as he bowed politely in front of me. “Luna, I'm sorry I came late,” he apologized. I didn't blame him since I also wasn't expecting that I'd need his help this soon
I'd placed him on standby while I attended my marriage on my own. Jerry was the only contact I had with home, but now it was all going to change soon.
“Can you please take me out of here?” I asked him.
Jerry drove me as fast as he could away from the moonstone company. During the long ride, I'd asked him to drop me at the club so I could grab a drink and think more properly. Right now, I couldn't think of anywhere else I'd want to be except there.
Maybe the noise and the activities would help me ease my thoughts.
As I stepped into the clubhouse, the pungent smell of alcohol and cigarettes lingered around the air filling my nose. “Stay back and wait for my return” I ordered Jerry, asking him not to come inside with me.
“Please call me if you need anything” he said
I made my way to the bar where I ordered a full bottle of wine. I knew for sure that I was bad with my alcohol but tonight, I just wanted the sadness in my heart to end so I needed the alcohol.
I took a shot at first, the bitterness welcomed my tongue while its hotness drained down my chest. I tried to remember the last time I had alcohol years ago during my wedding with Simon. It was a day to remember as I couldn't even get a grip on myself to accomplish the wedding night with him. I noticed myself smiling as I thought of him again.
“Mira, you really need to forget about him. He doesn't deserve you!” I reminded myself as I took another shot and another as well. I picked up the bottle to pour more wine on my glass but I suddenly felt restricted.
“I think you've had enough alcohol for tonight” the man said to me in a cold voice.
I let go of the drink , turning my gaze at him. “And who are you to dictate the intake of my alcohol to me?” I questioned him angrily, staring into his face that screamed of sin and power.
His sharp emerald eyes glistened under the burgundy light bulbs, a part of his hair was let down to cover his left eye, extending to his chin. His thin lips curled into a smile even with the cold looks on his face, his smile fitted him more.
I could feel my stomach tie into a knot and my chest ache. A feeling I've never had in my life started to consume me. A sudden strength filled me and I felt my blood boil from pleasure mixed with excitement.
What was going on with me? Was it my wolf again? Is she trying to shift? I couldn't help but to ask myself as a sweet fragrance caught my nose. The smell of cinnamon mixed with mint took over the odor of alcohol from my nose as I gazed up into his eyes that obviously never left me.
“What do you want?” I asked him but he smiled instead.
“You're so drunk to recognize me as your mate” he said in a low tone, but I couldn't understand his words
“What are you talking about? I'm married to another. I possibly can't have a mate..” I said, shunning him away as I requested for another drink.
“I told you no more drinks! How much is her bill?” I heard him ask the bartender after scolding me.
He finished paying and then he said. “Do not serve her more drinks”
I watched him turn to leave but something inside me wanted him to stay. I stood up and went after him. Grabbing the tail of his shirt and pulling him back using my wolf strength. “Please take me with you” I begged him meekly.
My legs wobbled numbly and I fell into his arms. He caught me tightly and didn't let go. “I warned you about your alcohol” he said as he carried me away with him
