BLOCKED EARS KATE’s POV “Kate! Listen to me!.... Don’t piss me off!!… I order you not to step out of this house, I have that right, as your elder brother!" Lucian barked at me, his voice straining and his eyes bulging. I have never seen him that angry. I knew he was after my safety and he’s trying to keep me alive, but at this point, my brain and heart were closed to any realistic thoughts, I needed to confront the animal. “I can't stay quiet lucian… I can't, you won't be able to keep me inside this house tonight, I will go to that royal mansion and demand from him…. That crazy Alpha king will answer me! He will tell me why he killed our parents…. Ohooo'' I held my chest, trying to regulate my breathing. Finally, I lost control and burst into another fresh tears at the thought and realization that I would never see my dear parents again. Lucian's hard face subdued and bulgy eyeball became mushy at once, he moved swiftly to where I was and crushed me into his tight hug, as usual he doesn't like to see me sad or heartbroken. “It's ok kate…, everything will be fine, I promise you, but I can't let you go to that place, he's very savage and cruel.. You saw how he killed our parents, without any feelings…." Lucian was speaking to me softly now, rubbing my back in circles as I wept loudly on his shoulder. “I’m just twenty… What do I do without my mum and dad? He took them away…. That beast, they were my everything… Even though I haven't found my mate for the past two years, I was still content because I had them….” I was mumbling and crying into his chest. “You have me kate! … Look at me!... I’m with you!!... Forget mate or our parents, my responsibility is to take care of you” my elder brother assured me again, cleaning my running hot tears with his free palm, his face had formed into another deep frown. From the corner of my eyes, I sighted our little brother. Aiden sat quietly on the floor by the exit door of the parlor where I was standing, he was looking at us in dejection, he sat there and wrapped himself in his embrace. I knew he was hurting just like me but he didn't want me to see it. Poor boy, I thought to myself, I smiled sadly at him, untangled myself from lucian hold and trudged slowly to him, his sad eyes looking at me as I approached him. “Aiden, listen to me… I will avenge their death, we won't sit back and just watch like this… Don't listen to Lucian, I'm also shocked he wants to let it slide!” I whispered into his ear, scrunching lower so he could hear me. He looked at me like I had grown twenty horns on my head but smiled sadly and nodded in approval. Everyone knows the great and powerful Alpha. The same person I was planning to fight with, maybe that's why Lucian is so against me going there. Alpha Chris is known to be crazy, powerful and cruel. They call him the “mini handsome god”, he's very handsome and wealthy. But he's also cold blooded and controlling, which became very worse after the death of his father, three years ago. “I will be in the garage… I need to fix some cars… Dad is gone now, we need to survive… I have learnt the job from him…"Lucian informed us, trying to dismiss the topic as usual. I groaned inwardly but pretended to agree with him this time. At least once he saw my cooperation he would Leave me alone, “it's okay… I will be with aiden.. You can go!” I responded back to him, looking up from my little brother's sad face to assure my elder brother. Aiden knew I was lying because he scoffed quietly to alert Lucian but our elder brother didn't hear. Aiden knew better than to piss me off in addition to my already soiled mood, so he didn't say anything directly to call our elder brother attention to my plan. “I agree with him kate.. Dont go there, I can't lose you too! Please!” Aiden jumped to beg me, immediately Lucian exited our small parlor to the garage. I took his hand and smiled confidently at him. I'm his elder sister and I had to show him that I'm strong and capable. “Listen to me… That man is not above judgment… He will pay for it and I'm only going there to let him know… I will be back tonight, don't tell Lucian '' the last statement was more like an order than pleading. Aiden looked so scared and unsure but he said nothing more, he got up from the floor and hugged me, his hug was different from Lucian's, for several years couldn't figure it out yet. maybe because he's my younger brother and more emotional. I do feel better and safer in his hug than lucian’s. I pushed him away playful and strolled to the kitchen, it's getting dark and I needed to make their dinner. I picked The vegetables from the fridge and the memory flashed again, forcing me to drop the vegetables at once. I held my head in pain. Like it never happened, I composed my self quickly and looked around, sighed in relief when I noticed aiden had left and didn't see me in my moment of weakness. The kitchen had always been a reminder of how I lost my parents, I was making dinner last weekend as well. When the news came to us, I was almost mad. Lucian had held me tight that night too. Our parent dead body was brought by the Aloha guards with a mocking and threatening message. He was haunting us to question him about their death. I picked the vegetables again, this time blocking my memory from acting up again. “I will defeat that beast! He has no power over me… I will fight tooth and nail with him and he will Regret his actions” I assured myself again, even as I moved quickly around the kitchen to make dinner. My wolf; zora, wasn't comfortable with my idea as well but she's very supportive. That's why I love her so much, she's just like Allison, my best friend. My heart warmed at the thought of my wolf and Allison. That night after dinner I watched my two brothers go to bed and stayed for over another three hours guys to make sure they had slept before sneaking out of the house, through the balcony door. None of them knew when I left because all through the dinner, I acted like I was over the idea of going to the dreaded palace, I even Made Aiden believe I wasn't going again, just in case he decided to Tell our elder brother. As I approached the colorful Lights, tall and beautiful walls, glittery wide gates of the most talked about mansion in Green sun pack, my heart began to race. The fear and uncertainty quickly caught up with me, forcing me to stop on my track. Its almost dawn now and everywhere was quiet and calm, aside from the noise coming from the gigantic and very beautiful mansion, I would have enjoyed it's beauty and glory. But I didn't come For that, I touched the very sleek white walls and thought about jumping over the fence. The thought was tempting but a sucide mission, nobody could get close to Alpha Chris, let alone a weak and ordinary woman like me. I would be dead before I cross over the fence. Its better I use one of the entrance. I braced myself, squared my shoulder and moved quickly to one of the black and gold gigantic gates. The number of guards camped in front of that gate ordinarily with my rough eye was about ten and they were several gates lined along the walls. “I want to see the Alpha king… My name is kate…” the guards didn't let me finish my introduction, one of them quickly rushed to open the gate with the remote, while another ushered me in, gaping at me like he could see my intestine. I was shocked, I didn't expect it to be so easy like this. The rumor around was that the king doesn’t see anybody until after an appointment or days after coming and begging to see him. It almost felt like he was expecting me. I shrugged the thought away and moved quickly toward the beautiful green lawn, tarred road and colorful trees. I was more dumbfounded when I saw the royal car waiting to transport me to the main mansion building. My wolf jumped up and started pacing at once, it was very weird, before I left home zora had complete fell Silent, my wolf had gone into Hiding, knowing fully well of my intention of seeing and confronting the Alpha. But now she's very excited and delighted. “Our mate… Our mate!” she kept chanting inside my head, the security in the car watched me carefully as I frowned hard at the news from my wolf, she would never lie to me! The Alpha king is our mate! I asked her silently and she clearly said it again, it was at that moment I felt the hard tugg, I couldn't keep my voice down. It was so unexpected and I groaned out loud. Once again the two hefty guards seated by my side in the car, looked at me again, tears clouded my eyes, my already broken heart shattered again. Why would the moon goddess choose the killer of my parents to be my mate? The only person I was waiting for to bring hope and light into my already dark life, Alpha Chris will never be that person. I closed my heart to the bond signals and made the firm resolution of rejecting him once i set my eyes on him.
