Rejection
Chapter 1: Rejection and Rebirth
Sitting in a room with dimmed light was a girl with fiery red hair, hazelnut eyes, and freckles on her face.
She pushed her large glasses up her nose, digging her hand into her hair.
Raising her head to gaze at the calendar hanging above the vanity mirror, she sighed deeply.
Tomorrow, she would be eighteen!
In a few hours, she would find her mate, her soulmate who would be her comforter, who would cherish and love her, apart from her best friend and her parents.
She heaved a sigh, pushing back her glasses she stood up, heading for bed. She slumped on the bed and soon drifted off to sleep.

Sprawled on the bed with her fiery red hair scattered everywhere was Aurora.
A knock at the door disturbed her sleep, making her groan in frustration.
Her mom pushed the door open, carefully stepping in with a wide smile plastered on her face.
" Heyyyyy, birthday pup! Sorry, I meant birthday lady!" She whispered, giggling to herself, and a smile creeped up Aurora’s face.
Aurora sat up, staring blankly at the wall, " What's wrong, baby? Aren't you excited about your birthday?" Her mother asked, staring at Aurora.
She sat beside her, pulling Aurora to herself and gently patting her back.
“You’re going to do great, baby! Don’t worry about a thing. It’s your birthday, so make the most of it and enjoy every moment,” Amelia assured her, wrapping her in a warm hug.
“Now it’s time to get up and prepare for school or you’ll be late!”
Amelia then headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
Aurora sighed, her stomach fluttering with nerves, and began her morning routine.
Aurora finished brushing her teeth, double-checked her backpack, and headed downstairs.
As she was about to continue, she stopped short upon seeing her sister, Lisa, staring at her in disdain.
" If it isn't the birthday nerd!" Lisa mocked, and Aurora stared at her feet, playing with her fingers.
" Lisa, please stop picking on your sister! Aurora sweetie, come have breakfast, I made your favourite." Amelia yelled from downstairs.
Lisa sneered and walked past Aurora, deliberately bumping her shoulders into Aurora’s making her stumble backwards.
Aurora bit her lip to keep her from responding, unwilling to fuel Lisa's apparent pleasure in her misery.
She took a deep breath and entered the kitchen, where the smell of pancakes and bacon filled the air, her favourite breakfast.
She walked towards her father. " Good morning, Papa," she greeted, kissing him on the cheek.
" Good morning, pumpkin." Her father, Richard, responded with a smile.
" Happy birthday, pumpkin! Your birthday gift should be ready before you get back from college, " he added with a smile on his face.
" Thanks, dad," Aurora muttered while Lisa hissed, but they all ignored her.
Amelia beamed at her and placed a plate heaped with food on the table.
"Happy birthday, darling!" Amelia exclaimed, giving Aurora a quick hug before returning to the stove.
"I hope you have an amazing day today. And remember, no matter what happens, I love you and am here for you."
Aurora felt a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.
"Thanks, Mom," she replied, her heart warming at the gesture.
She sat down at the table and began to eat, the comfort food helping to ease her nerves.
As she ate, she thought about how her day would go and the chances of meeting her mate.
Quickly finishing her food, Aurora set out to school.
As she stepped into the school, a pleasing scent hit her nose—musk wood and pine cones.
"Mate!" her wolf, Valerie, purred in her mind, filling her with excitement.
Aurora couldn't believe she'd found her mate on her birthday.
But as she followed the scent, her elation turned to dread as she realized where it led. The school field and George Monroe.
Aurora froze. George was not only the Alpha's son, but he had already chosen his mate, her sister Lisa!. Her heart sank.
George approached Aurora, a sneer on his face. "It's the birthday nerd," he taunted, eliciting laughter from Lisa.
"Finally, after waiting for a long time. It's your birthday! Now let's get this over with, shall we?" he said, his tone ominous.
Aurora's eyes widened in fear as she realized he was about to reject her. She tried to maintain her composure. "You... want to reject me?" she asked, her voice shaking.
George scoffed.
"Of course. You wouldn't think I'd want you as a mate, would you?" George scoffed, his eyes burning with contempt.
Aurora's heart shattered into a million pieces. She had known that rejection was a possibility, but to have it confirmed like this was devastating.
Tears began to well up in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall.
"Why?" she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper.
George's smirk widened. "Because you're weak. And you're not good enough for me. I deserve better.
"But...my wolf said..." Aurora started to protest, but George cut her off.
"Your wolf can say whatever it wants. I'm the Alpha's son, and I choose my mate. Not some puny little omega like you," he spat, his eyes glittering with malice.
Aurora's world was spinning. She couldn't believe that the person she was fated to be with would reject her so cruelly. But she knew she had to keep her dignity, at least for now.
"Very well," she said, her voice quivering
Aurora’s hands trembled as she stood in the heart of the school's territory, the imposing figure of Alpha prince Logan casting a dark shadow over her.
Tears welled up in her eyes as the words she had dreaded spilt from his lips. "I Logan Monroe, reject you as my mate!," he declared, his voice cold and unfeeling.
Pain lanced through Aurora's heart as her world crumbled around her.
" I accept your rejection!" She responded despite her wolf unwillingness to part with the bond.
The silent murmurs of the crowd gathered around them served as a cruel reminder of her newfound shame.
Aurora caught sight of her elder sister standing beside George, a victorious smirk playing on her lips.
The betrayal stung deeper than any physical wound.
Devastated and humiliated, Aurora fled into the dense forest that bordered her pack's territory.
The tears streaming down her face blurred her vision, causing her to stumble over roots and stones that littered the ground. As the shadows deepened around her, so did her despair.
Hours passed, and Aurora found herself in a secluded glen, the moonlight filtering through the canopy above illuminating her shattered expression.
She knelt beside a crystal-clear stream, her reflection a stark reminder of her supposed inadequacy.
"Aurora, is that you?" a familiar voice called out from the darkness.
Aurora turned to find her best friend, Liam, approaching her, concern etched on his face.
He had been her rock throughout her entire life, and his presence brought her a small measure of comfort.
Liam knelt beside her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I heard what happened," he said softly.
"You don't deserve any of this. You're stronger than you know, and I'll be here for you every step of the way."
Aurora wiped away her tears, her resolve hardening as she met Liam's determined gaze.
"I want to be strong, Liam. I want to show them all that I am more than just a rejected mate," she whispered, her voice laced with newfound determination.
Liam smiled, pride shining in his eyes. "Then let's do it together. We'll train, and we'll grow stronger.
And when the time comes, we'll return and show them the powerful woman you've become."
Thus began Aurora’s journey of self-discovery and rebirth...
