SCOTT POV
Alpha Dean is already on his way. What has been going on? I look over at my beta and study his expression, then over at his mate. She stands up and walks over to me.
"Alpha, there's some things you should know."
She starts telling me all about how my mate had been investigating those who she suspected to be traitors, as well as who. I never noticed that her walks and her time with the members was her actually doing her job. She truly is a skilled spy. She told me everything, even that up to this morning. They thought Blair was still the target, but that's obviously wasn't the case since my mate is gone. Someone is definitely a traitor in my pack for that dirty rogue to get flowers to her door. She told me the list of suspects in my pack.
"Declan?" My brow furrowing as I try to put a face with the name. I look back up at them. "Who's Declan?" Emmaline did a nervous shift of her weight.
"The guy we were playing pool with yesterday. He's not one of our men." My faces pales and panic takes over me. "Alan was there when we left. She shouldn't be in any danger."
"If Declan isn't one of your men, and he's not one of mine, we need get him in the cells. He might have some answers." Rick's eyes glaze over, mind linking some of our warriors. Emmaline's eyes glaze over as well.
"Alpha Dean is here." She states as soon as Rick's eyes clear. The two of them help me up and walk to my office where Alpha Dean is waiting.
The door opens, and he looks worried, but still as intimidating as always. I get into my seat, and the three take their seats as well. He stays looking at me.
"Emmaline, status report." She straightens her back and produces a lap top from somewhere.
"Alpha Dean, these are all the files she sent me right before she went missing. She's been suspicious of Jill, Chase, and Declan. Pack warriors have been sent to detain Declan since he isn't a man bet if the pack, nor is one of our men. She also said she has some suspicions about a few of our men but didn't say who. She said she had felt like she was being watched, I originally thought it was just Alpha Scott. I would see him around her at random times, so I thought it was just him trying to work up the nerve to talk to her. I can see that I was mistaken. Blair is no longer expected to be the target." She states as she shows him the files on her screen. I have to admit I'm impressed at how she went from comfortable and at ease with him to spy and warrior mode.
"Anna called me when she got the text yesterday morning. She sent me the picture of the flowers and the card. Whoever it is has had enough contact with her to know her favorite flowers are daisies." Emmaline nods. Rick has just been sitting there listening and watching his mate at what she does best. I've been listening, hoping for any information that could help find her.
"Alpha, do you think she'll be able to use her gifts?" He looks between Rick and I, and then nods.
"Gifts?" Rick asks, leaning forward.
"My sister has some gifts. It has put her on the radar of quite a few times, but has made her work as a spy easier. Very few people know the extent of her gifts. I will say one more thing about it, but that's it. We all need to keep our minds open. If she has the energy, she might be able to reach out to one of us."
"She reached out to me while I was unconscious." I add slightly worried about her brothers reaction. His eyes snap to mine, and he nods, telling me to continue. "She said she couldn't remember who grabbed her. It was a little fuzzy, but that it was a group job. She also said she was running out of energy because she was being moved farther away, but to speak with Emmaline and to call you." He looks back to my beta's mate.
"Em, the original plan, what was it?" She nods and stands up, pulling a map out of her bag. She places it on my desk.
"The clearing where she originally met the rogues and saved Blair, that was going to be where we set up our trap. She was going to request an audience with you, Alpha Scott, and your sister to try and get you two in on the plan. We were thinking that Blair could be the bait. We had trackers and everything ready." She looks up at me briefly before going back to the map. "She was going to wait in the trees and follow them after. She believes that the headquarters is in this area since that's where she followed the rogues here. She also believes that whoever King is, he is someone who was kicked out of his pack for trying to steal the alpha position, left because he wanted a pack of his own and rogues are easy to manipulate, or he got in so much trouble in his pack he faked his own death and left to create his own pack." She looks at Alpha Dean and hesitates but says what she's thinking anyway. "Dean, do you think he survived? He was obsessed with her, and if he found her here at a pack that's easier to get into than Crimson, he may have decided she was worth the risk." He stands up, anger rolling off him in waves.
"There is no way that bastard survived! Not after what I did to him." He looks at her, and she bares her neck submissively.
"He might have. No one checked after his body was left to be torn apart by wild animals. He had a lot of friends, and they could have helped him." She says while still looking down.
"He's dead. After what he tried to do to her, he's dead. Let's look at the clearing, see if that's where they took her from."
I can't help but be curious about what happened to my Anna and why it is such a touchy subject, but that is something she will tell me when she's ready. The four of us head to the clearing where we each begin searching for anything she could have dropped. A small reflection of light shining in my eyes catches my attention. Moving towards it, I see her phone. I pick it up and walk over to her brother and show it to him.
"Dean!" Emma yells as she rushes towards us, holding something in her hand. She hands a small silver necklace to him, he opens it and there inside is a picture of him and his mate, and Emma. She's panting and looks panicked.
"I'm calling in Mitch." He states simply.
"Dean, you can't." She says desperately.
"He's the only besides her mate and myself who can find her and get her out safely. She holds a special place in his heart, you know that. She tried to save his mate, and even when it didn't work, he stood by her during those years of pain. He helped train her. He's the only one who can do this." She looks down at the ground and nods weakly.
"Who's Mitch?" Rick asks, looking between the two nervously. I can't deny I'm also curious about this man who "holds a special place in his heart" for my mate. Emma sighs.
"My half brother. We didn't know about each other for years. My dad was quite the player before he met his mate, my mom. He got another woman pregnant and didn't want anything to do with him or the girl. So the alpha took him after the girl died in labor. He trained him, Dean, and Annalise to be lethal. He found his mate, and my dad was livid. He said he didn't deserve a mate being "a mistake" as he liked to call him. Anna and his mate, Joy, were out on a walk one day when my dad attacked her. Anna fought him and killed him. She tried to save Joy, but her wounds were too bad, and there was too much blood. He grew up as if they were siblings, but his care for her multiplied when she tried to save the one person he wanted more than anything, and the pup they had just announced was on his way." There were tears in her eyes, and Dean looked like he was reliving the day.
"Shortly after, he asked to only be a spy and trainer. He trained Anna and Emma to be the very best, how to withstand silver and wolfsbane. He's been out on a mission of almost six months." Dean adds.
"Alpha!" One of my warriors yells as he runs over to us. "It's Blair!" My world freezes.
"What happened?" I ask as I move towards him.
