One second, I was attacking him, and the next, he had his arm around my neck, and his other hand still pressing against my belly, making me feel faint.
I clawed at his forearm but it was a useless defense. There was nothing but strong muscles and veins to hold on to.
He patiently waited for me to exhaust the fight in me. His body was rock solid, not moving an inch unless he willed it to.
"You done?" He growled in my ear.
I threw in an extra kick to his calf for extra measure even though I doubt it made a difference.
"Let me go."
"I will. Right after you tell me where you got this."
He trailed a finger along my abdomen and although a layer of clothing separated his touch from my skin, I felt every trail and shivered in response.
"And who the hell you are," he continued in the same thick, muted tone.
"I don't know what to tell you, okay?! My mate threw me in the dungeons after kissing this gorgeous devil and rejecting me and some f*****g i***t thought it'd be funny to stab me in the f*****g womb!"
"And that's how you ended up as a rogue," he muttered more to himself than me.
I coughed. Although his hold had loosened on my neck, I still felt choked up. "Excuse me?"
"Doesn't explain the powers, though. Nor the loss of control. Nor the eyes."
"The eyes?"
"You have the rarest red eyes, little one."
"No, my eyes are brown."
"Only when you're calm."
"No. No, they're always brown."
He let go of my neck and guided me to another room, a smaller one and a bathroom by the looks of it. Then I caught sight of myself in the mirror and wished I didn't at all.
I looked...wild.
My hair was in tangled knots and my face was gaunt with dark patches and a few cuts. My eyes were the biggest shock though. They looked unrecognizable. I looked unrecognizable. I blinked several times but they didn't go away.
"That's not me."
My eyes strayed to the stranger who was standing tall behind me and looking like a god. He was also staring at my reflection with an expression I couldn't read.
I raised my hand to my cheeks and trailed them down.
"What happened to you? What did they do to you? What did you do to yourself?"
"I don't know…"

He left me to rest. But my mind was all over the place. Ultimately, I was hungry for the blood of those who had done something this heinous to me. Yet, the tiny shred of sanity I had left insisted it would be unwise to do anything.
And something told me that being locked up would do more good than harm. But this place was driving me crazy.
I was so excited when the invisible door popped open but I didn't recognize the face that greeted me. She had a tray in her hands and the smell of food hit me, making my stomach churn.
"Hi," she smiled.
Somehow, this woman reminded me of Ava. My Ava, who had been the only one to stand up for me. I whispered a silent prayer to the moon goddess to keep her safe.
"I brought food."
Hoping she couldn't sense my disappointment, I swung my legs down and brushed my hair with my fingers. "Where is he?"
"He?"
"The man who was here earlier. Probably the one who put me here."
"Man," she repeated, and I nodded in response. "You mean the King."
Confused, I looked around. "Where is this place?"
"The palace. Of the Alpha King. King Luca," she added the last bit in a whisper.
I swallowed. "King. Luca."
She put her index finger on my lips. "Shhh. You can't say his name." Next, she uncovered the dishes in the tray. "You need some food in you."
He was a King. I assaulted a King. I sure was going to die now.
I turned to the woman and grabbed her arm. She looked motherly. She should be able to understand my plight. "Help me escape this place."
She drew back. "Escape?"
"Yes. Please."
"That's so ridiculous. Nobody can escape this place."
"That's impossible."
"It's not. Why would you want to escape anyway?"
"He's going to kill me."
Her face grew remorseful. "I didn't think you were a prisoner."
"I need to leave this place. Just...tell me the layout. I will find my way out."
"Honey, you can't. It's practically impossible."
Impatient, I snapped. "Just f*****g tell me-"
Fortunately, the door opened again and I realized that I was starting to lose control. A man with blonde hair stood there and assessed the situation.
Coming to a conclusion, he gestured at me. "Come."
I reluctantly got up and followed him. As soon as I caught up to him, he bound my wrists together with one flick of his hands.
I clenched my teeth, trying to keep my anger in check. "Is this really necessary?"
"We can't have you attacking me, shall we?"
"I'm not a f*****g rogue. I won't go about attacking wolves."
"That's not what I heard."
"f*****g Luca," I muttered under my breath.
"Maybe some other time."
His voice came from my left and I suddenly understood what the woman had meant about it being impossible to leave this place. It was basically all white walls, and corridors. Floors as well. I didn't even know where Luca had come from.
I cleared my throat loudly wondering if I should apologize. I had already done so much damage at this point, that I doubted if it mattered.
"Nice place," I said sarcastically.
But Luca had disappeared just as mysteriously as he had appeared. It made me question whether he had really been there. This place was messing with my brain.
Soon, we transitioned into a beautiful, castle like hall.
"That was the captive's ward," the blonde guy confided in me.
"What am I doing here?"
"We're going to have a witch analyze you."
"What? You didn't think to tell me this first?"
"I don't think you have much of a choice."
He took me into a still gorgeous, but less ostentatious room. Sitting at the window was a woman dressed in all black with her back to me. Even her head was covere
d in a black cape.
I cleared my throat.
She took her time swinging around to face me. But when she did, I got the shock of my life.
"Lilian."
