I honestly didn’t even realize at first it had been so long. I am able to catch up with an old friend,Josie. I happened to bump into at the dr office. She was the X-ray tech.
We are able to catch up for a good twenty minutes or so. I hadn’t seen her for for probably 3 years. Yeah it was about 3 years because the last time I saw her was at her wedding!
“Willow, can you believe it has been 10 years since we graduated? I wonder if someone will plan a reunion?”
10 years? She must be a little mixed up. It hadn’t been 10 years.
“Josie, it’s only been 9 years.” I say seriously.
“Willow! It’s 2021! We graduated in 2011!”
My face is red. She is so right. I guess I’m the one that’s mixed up.
“Oh hey Josie, did you realize it’s been 10 years since we graduated?” I say jokingly.
We both laugh so hard we wake up Harper, my baby. She gets fussy and I look at my phone to check the time.
“Oh shoot,Josie. I have to go! My mom has my big kids and I told her I wouldn’t be gone long. We need to get lunch soon!” I know it probably will never happen. We would part ways and wouldn’t see each other until we happened to bump into each other again. Maybe at the reunion, if there was one.
Our conversation got me thinking about high school. It seemed like a lifetime ago. So much has changed. I hardly see anyone anymore. Memories started to flood back to me. Football games, homecomings and proms, slumber parties, and Silas.
