Payback
Robert chose the last hour of the work day to enter the office of the Reformation Message Director. She was not expecting the visit.
“Robert, I didn’t even know you were in the building,” Victoria said as she looked up to see who dared to enter her office without knocking. “This is a surprise. To what do I owe the pleasure of your company?” She didn’t say anything that wasn’t laced with her particular brand of scorn, though Robert was accustomed to the woman’s haughty demeanor and paid no attention to her condescending tone.
“I gave you time, clues, everything you needed to set things right, Victoria. Either you didn’t bother to listen or you just ignored the message.”
