Chapter 16 July 29th The raised voices of Banner and Sylvia right outside the bedroom door woke me up. “What is she doing here?” “Please keep your voice down.” Their voices grew a bit fainter, as if they moved down the hallway, so I crept out of bed to stand closer to the door, which I had left cracked a little. “I’ll f*****g raise my voice if I want to,” she snapped at him. “How dare you bring her here!” Banner’s voice had calmed, quieted in tone, and the way he said, “She’s been through a lot,” in reply made my heart twinge a bit. “Oh, for feck’s sake.
