“Oh, wow, Val. The house looks amazing.”
I stood to the side in the foyer, staring at Macy and Sarah, who both gazed wide eyed at the interior of my and Banner’s new home.
In the six months since we finally got together, a lot had changed. Banner wanted more for us than only living together; he wanted to marry me. Since it wasn’t legal for us in Ohio, we made the decision together to move to another state that did allow it. Although we didn’t have to move — we could’ve gotten married in another state without residency requirements then returned home — the truth is, we both wanted and needed a fresh start.
