The Heart Shaped Necklace.
Lego's eyes glued themselves to the boy sitting across the room. "His eyes are so pretty, like shimmering sapphires," he thought, his gaze drifting to the boy's neck. "It looks so kissable, so inviting." His attention lingered on the boy's lips, soft and pink, before tracing the curves of his toned arms. "Hey, hey, hey... sir?" The bartender's voice broke the spell, and Lego's face flushed with embarrassment. "What can I get you to drink?" Lego stuttered, "O-oh, I'll have a milkshake, please." The bartender raised an eyebrow. "Coming right up. You okay, buddy? You seemed lost in thought." Lego nodded, still distracted by the boy. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Thanks." As the bartender walked away, Lego couldn't help but sneak another glance at the mysterious boy. Little did he know, their lives were about to become intertwined in unexpected ways. As the mysterious boy finished his drink, he slid out of the booth, his eyes scanning the room one last time. Lego's heart skipped a beat, hoping to catch his attention, but the boy's gaze swept something glinting on the ground. He rushed over and picked up a stunning heart-shaped necklace, its diamonds sparkling in the dim light. His eyes widened as he realized it must belong to the mysterious boy. Without hesitation, Lego sprinted out of the café, the necklace clutched in his hand. He scanned the parking lot, desperate to catch a glimpse of the boy's car. But it was too late; the vehicle had already vanished into the night. Breathless and disappointed, Lego stood there, the necklace still clutched in his hand. A glimmer of hope flickered to life within him. Maybe, just maybe, their paths would cross again. With the necklace safely tucked away in his pocket, Lego began his walk home, the city lights twinkling around him like stars. Lego burst through the front door, a radiant smile plastered on his face. His mom, Miranda, and younger sister, Missy, exchanged a knowing glance. "Hey, sweetie! How was your day?" Miranda asked, eyeing her son's euphoric expression. Lego's grin faltered for a moment before he rebounded with an enthusiastic "It was amazing, Mom! I just had the best milkshake ever!" Missy's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "What made it so special?" Lego's cheeks flushed, and he hastily changed the subject. "Hey, can we have a family game night? I'm really in the mood for some fun!" Miranda and Missy exchanged a skeptical glance, but eventually, they relented, and the trio spent the evening laughing and bonding. As bedtime approached, Lego retreated to his room, his mind still reeling from the encounter with the mysterious boy. He carefully placed the heart-shaped necklace in his memory box, a secret treasure he couldn't wait to cherish. Just as he was about to drift off to sleep, Missy burst into his room. "Lego, what's going on? You're acting so weird and happy!" Lego's heart skipped a beat as he quickly hid the necklace. "Nothing, Missy! Just excited for the first day of high school tomorrow." Missy's eyes narrowed, but she eventually gave up and skipped back to her own room. As Lego settled into bed, he whispered to himself, "This is going to be the best year ever!" The thought sent him drifting off to sleep with a contented smile. The next morning, Lego woke up feeling refreshed and eager. He got dressed, grabbed his backpack, and rushed downstairs, where his mom and sister were waiting with breakfast. After a quick goodbye, Lego sprinted out the door, his heart racing with excitement. As he stood before the school gates, he took a deep breath and declared, "This is it! The best years of my life are about to begin!" With a spring in his step, Lego walked into the school campus, ready to take on whatever lay ahead. As Lego walked through the school gates, he was immediately struck by the campus's grandeur. The buildings were a mix of modern and traditional architecture, with sleek glass panels and rustic brick facades. The grounds were immaculately manicured, with vibrant flowers and lush greenery adding splashes of color to the landscape. Lego's eyes widened as he took in the bustling atmosphere. Students of all ages milled about, chatting and laughing with one another. The air was filled with the sound of chatter, the rustling of leaves, and the distant chime of a bell. As he consulted his schedule, trying to figure out where his class was, a handsome dark-eyed boy suddenly appeared beside him. "Hey, watch where you're going, space cadet!" the boy teased, his eyes sparkling with mischief. Lego's heart skipped a beat as he stumbled backward, startled. "Oh my gosh, Alex!" he exclaimed, his eyes locking onto his childhood friend's familiar face. Alex grinned, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Hey, long time no see! I see you're still as clumsy as ever." The two friends engaged in a playful fight, laughing and joking as they made their way to their classroom. As they walked, Lego couldn't help but notice the way Alex's dark eyes sparkled in the morning light, or the way his messy black hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck. When they arrived at the classroom, Lego's eyes scanned the room, taking in the familiar faces of his classmates. His gaze landed on a girl with long blonde hair and big brown eyes, who was waving enthusiastically at him. "Karina!" Lego exclaimed, rushing over to hug his friend. "It's so great to see you!" As the three friends chatted, catching up on each other's summer vacations, Lego couldn't resist sharing his exciting encounter with the mysterious boy from the café. Karina's eyes grew wide with excitement as Lego described the boy's striking features and captivating smile. Alex, on the other hand, looked less than thrilled. His eyes narrowed, and his jaw clenched as Lego continued to gush about the mysterious boy. "Yeah, yeah, we get it," Alex said finally, his voice tinged with jealousy. "You met some guy, and now you're obsessed." Lego rolled his eyes good-natured. "I am not obsessed! I just think he's really interesting, that's all." The three friends broke into another playful fight, laughing and joking as they teased each other mercilessly. Just as things were getting out of hand, their teacher, Miss Min Young, walked into the classroom, a warm smile on her face. "Good morning, class," she said, her voice calm and soothing. "I trust you're all ready to start our first lesson of the year?" As the class settled down, Lego couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. He had no idea what the year held, but he was ready to take on whatever challenges came his way. As the school day wore on, Lego, Alex, and Karina trudged out of their classroom, looking exhausted. The fluorescent lights overhead seemed to hum in sync with their fatigue. Karina dramatically flung her arms over her head, her long, curly brown hair bouncing with the motion. "OMG, I'm so done! I want it to be holidays again! All my makeup has melted off my face from all this book work." Alex chuckled, his bright, white teeth gleaming in the harsh lighting. "You're right, Karina, school is hard, but this is my best time in school. I have to go try out for the basketball team!" He grinned mischievously, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "See you losers!" Before Karina could respond, Alex took off, sprinting toward the basketball court with a fluidity that belied his exhaustion. Karina turned to Lego, rolling her eyes good-natured. "He's so heartless, right?" Her voice was tinged with amusement, but also a hint of frustration. Lego was about to respond when he accidentally collided with Maya, a stunningly beautiful girl in their class. Maya's eyes narrowed, her gaze icy. "Didn't you see me?" she spat, her voice dripping with venom. Her long, blonde hair seemed to shimmer in the light, and her piercing blue eyes seemed to bore into Lego's very soul. Lego apologized profusely, but Maya wouldn't let up. She began to scold and embarrass him, her friends snickering in the background. Karina stepped in, defending her friend. "Hey, back off, Maya! He said he was sorry." Maya's expression turned glacial. "You think you're so special, don't you, Karina? Well, let me tell you, you're not. And you," she sneered at Lego, "you're just a clumsy oaf. I'll make sure your life is miserable throughout these school years." Karina stood tall, unfazed. "Do your worst, Maya. I'm not afraid of you." Her voice was steady, but her eyes flashed with anger. Lego, however, looked worried. "Karina, maybe we should just—" But Karina cut him off. "No way, Lego. We're not going to back down from someone like Maya." As the confrontation escalated, Alex returned from his tryout, concerned. "Hey, what's going on?" His eyes scanned the scene, taking in Maya's angry expression and Karina's defiant stance. Karina filled him in on the drama with Maya. Alex's expression turned serious. "Don't worry, guys. We'll deal with Maya. Let's just focus on getting through the school year." But Maya had one final trick up her sleeve. As the trio walked away, Maya and her friends intentionally poured water on them, pretending it was an accident. Lego, Alex, and Karina were furious, but they knew they couldn't retaliate. Not yet, anyway. The cold water seeped through their clothes, making them shiver. Karina's eyes blazed with anger. "I'm going to get her back for this. Just you wait." Alex and Lego calmed her down, reminding her that they needed to focus on their studies and not let Maya get to them. As they walked home, the tension between them was palpable. When Lego arrived home, his mom and sister noticed the change in his demeanor. "Hey, sweetie, how was school?" his mom asked, concern etched on her face. Lego just shrugged. "It was fine." His voice was flat, and his eyes seemed to cloud over. His mom and sister exchanged a knowing glance. "Okay, dear. You can talk to us about it if you want." But Lego just trudged up to his room, feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. As he lay on his bed, he opened the box containing the heart-shaped necklace. "Today was not what I was hoping for," he sighed. "But I wish tomorrow will be better." The necklace glinted in the fading light, a reminder of the mysterious boy he had met at the café.
