Chapter 19 - Mallory's P.O.V.

1458 Words
Mallory’s P.O.V. As soon as Leo left, my heart started thundering against my chest. I have a bad feeling. Something doesn’t feel right about today. I can’t tell what it is though. I squirm in my bed, trying to position myself comfortably, but it’s hard. I huff and sit up, rubbing my tired eyes. I’m exhausted. The door opens and a nurse walls in. He’s a lot bigger than all the other ones that have been coming in and out of my room since I’ve been here. He walks up to my IV machine and takes out a syringe from his pocket. “What’s that?” I ask skeptically. “Something to help you,” is all he said, making me frown. Something’s wrong here… Not once since I’ve been here has no one ever explained to me what they were doing to give me in my IV. “I don’t think I’m due for a dose yet.” That is a lie. I’m in so much pain, but I seriously can’t shake this bad feeling. “It’s fine,” He grumbles. I open my mouth to protest, but he cuts me off. “I’m here to give you this. Now shut up and let me do my job!” I’m shocked into silence for a second. He’s definitely not one of the hospital staff. There’s no way! I look around the room trying to think of what I should do, and just as he pushes the liquid from his syringe into my IV bag, I rip out the part that’s in my hand and try to run out of my room as fast as I can. Just as I’m about to pass the threshold, he pulls my hair and yanks me backward. I scream in pain as I fall on my backside, his hand still pulling my hair. “Shut up you stupid b***h!” He yells, placing his hand over my mouth. I fight against him with everything I have, which isn’t much. “Stop fighting! It won’t help you!” I squirm hard again and manage to move his hand from my mouth slightly, giving me the chance to bite him as hard as I can. He yelps in pain and stands up, but before I can crawl away, he backhands me, making my head spin. “You shouldn’t have done that. Now you’re in for it,” He smirks, massaging his hand. He pulls me up, holding my arms tightly. I can’t even struggle. The slap he gave me still made my head spin. “What’s with all the noise in here? Do you want to get us caught?” Someone asks, coming into the room. “What the hell happened to her face?” He asks, pinching my shin upward. “The b***h bit me. She got what she deserved,” The “nurse”. The nurse snided. “Alexander’s going to have your head for this. You know he’s the only one allowed to touch her in this way!” The second one said furiously. “Whatever. Let’s just get her out of here.” The ‘nurse’ grabs my arms tightly and stabs a needle in my shoulder. I squirm in pain, but in no time, darkness takes over. I don’t know how much time has passed since I was injected with whatever they gave me, a sedative I’m guessing. Opening my eyes, I look around. I can tell I’m in an SUV’s back seat from the space around me. I try to move, but my ankles are bound. So are my arms behind my back. Surprisingly, I have nothing in my mouth. Trying to push myself up, I let out a small squeak, the pain from everything surfacing again. “Well, well, well, my little Orleader. I’ve heard you’ve been quite the naughty flower.” A chilling voice, a voice I recognize all too well, says from the passenger’s front seat. My whole body freezes as I gulp in fear. No, no, no NO!!! This can’t be happening! I can’t be with him again. I won’t survive being in his grasp again. The front door opens and closes, my heart beats wildly, and stops as the back door opens, revealing Alexander's smug face. I try backing away, but he grabs my ankles, pulling me towards him. “Now, now, my little Orleader. There’s nothing to worry about. Shouldn’t you be happy to be in my arms again?” He asks, softly caressing my thigh, making me gulp. “Cat got your tongue?” He snickered, pulling me out of the SUV and standing me up awkwardly. “Where are my manners,” he smirked, bending down and cutting the ropes around my ankles. “That should feel much better,” he says, but as soon as he stands back up and looks me in the eyes, his eyes darken, falling on my right cheek. “Who did this?” He says, pulling my chin upward and my face to the side. He turns around and screams. “Who the f**k did this to her face?!” No one speaks. But one of them side looks towards the “nurse”. Only for a moment, but long enough to make Alexander strike. Bang! In one swift movement, Alexander pulls out his gun and shoots that man in the head. I scream and crouch, but I can’t cover my ears. My hands are still tied. “Not one, and I mean NO ONE, but I am allowed to touch her!” He screamed, spitting from frustration. No one answers, but the message was clear. So was the fear on their faces. And mine. I don’t want to be here. I want to go home. My real home! I want to spend the afternoon baking with Claire and my night rekindling with Leo. So many memories have come back, and I know many more will surface. I want to be in his arms. But does he even know I’m missing? Surely he does by now. Someone must have noticed them taking me out of the hospital. What if Alexander got to him before coming to find me? What if he’s hurt, or worse?! What about Claire? Is she still safe and at home? Have they gone after her again too? I would rather be here in their stead if it meant keeping them safe, as they have been for the past five years before they found me. Maybe I should have just tried to find a way back to Alexander. It could have kept them safe. It’s my fault they might be in danger. All and every scenic possibility flash through my mind. I’m so distracted I didn’t even notice Alexander crouching in front of me. “Why are you so scared, my Orleander? It’s not the first time you’ve seen me kill someone. It shouldn’t suprise you.” He says, stroking my head, making me flinch. “I have been longing to see you for a while. But that lap dog of yours kept you hidden from me. Tell me, has he touched you too?” He asks, his voice chilling. I open my mouth, but nothing came out. “I asked you, did that bastarda touch you!?” He screams mere inches from my face. I shake my head, no, but he grabs a fist full of hair. Just like that ‘nurse’ did. “You know I don’t like lies from you. From anyone. Tell me the truth. Did. He. Touch. What’s. Mine?!” “N-No. H-He didn’t t-touch me,” I whimper. “Are you sure about that?” He taunted. “If he hasn’t touched you, can you explain this picture?” He coldly snarled. In front of me is a picture of us, sitting very closely on a swinging chair. That’s one of the nights we had a great conversation. Leo had made me feel so special. So light and free. I miss him. “W-we only t-talked,” I whispered. “You really think I’ll believe that?” He snapped, pulling my hair further back. “I s-swear, I-I’m telling t-the truth,” “I suppose we’ll see about that. I have quite the surprise for you, waiting for you real soon.” He smirked, pulling me up. But as soon as I’m standing, he punches me hard. One on the stomach. “That, is for staying with him all this time and not coming back to me, and this,” Twice on the face. “Is for being too close to him.” I double over in pain, black spots clouding my vision. “Now, let’s get you ready for your surprise,”
