Chapter 18 - Leo's P.O.V.

1215 Words
Leo’s P.O.V. Leaving her all alone in that hospital room hurts me more than I care to let on. I don’t want to leave her side, which is why I’ve taken so long to go after Alexander. Lorenzo asked me many times since Mallory was hospitalized when we would, but I always prioritized staying by her side. It hadn’t gone unnoticed that when I walked into her room after being out for a while, how her shoulders would sag and her whole body went lax as soon as I walked in. All of the tension she kept holding in, was gone in mere seconds. It was written all over her face too. She seemed more relaxed, even though most of the time she’s awake, she’s wittering in pain. I need to find the creator of whatever poison she’s been injected with. And I need to find out how long they’ve been giving it to her. There are so many things that I need to know. I thought for sure Sam could have figured it out without needing them. That I could be there for Mallory while she recovered and go after Alexander afterward. But things didn’t go as planned. A-fuking-gain! As soon as I left the hospital, I called Lorenzo and gave him the heads up. “Everyone will be ready for you as soon as you get here,” “Perfect,” Alexander will pay for what he’s done to me, to Claire, and most of all, to Mallory for the past nine f*****g years! As soon as I park my car in front of my house, everyone involved in our stint steps out, including Lorenzo. “Does everyone know where and who they’re in charge of finding?” I ask, checking the gun Lorenzo just handed me and fastening it to the back waist of my pants. “Yes, sir!” “Good. Everyone gets moving and gives the signal as soon as you have your target in hand,” Everyone clears out and gets into their designated car. “Leo,” Lorenzo says, grabbing my arms before I can get into my car. “Something feels off about today.” He says, looking over his shoulder at a few, slower at getting in, men. “What do you mean?” “I mean, something feels off,” he repeats, looking back over his shoulder. I leaned a little, looking in the same direction, and nod back at him. We silently settle in and drive off. “Alexander's last known location was in his backyard. About two hours ago. I’m waiting on confirmation that he’s still there.” The closer we get to Alexander's house, the more my blood boils. It is almost time for your reckoning, Bastarda! Lorenzo’s phone ding. I take a quick glance his way before looking back ahead. “Change of location. He’s outside of his warehouse on the outskirts of town.” Lorenzo sighs, closing his phone, looking out the window with his phone in hand and finger across his lips. I swerve and reroute. Lorenzo’s phone dings twice, letting us know he’s got messages coming in. “They have the doctor and three of his accomplices in our custody,” “Tell our team to bring them to our basement. Make sure they’re not too banged up before we get to them,” In no time, we’re at the warehouse. We slowly step out, our guards and weapons up. “Things seem too silent, Leo,” Lorenzo warns. “I know, but we have to go in regardless.” We cautiously make our way to the front door, Lorenzo watching my back closely. Walking in, not one light is on. I blink my eyes a few times, adjusting them to the darkness. Looking around the mostly empty warehouse, I finally notice someone sitting on a chair on the far left, facing us. From this far, I can’t tell who it is. “Put your hands on your head and stand up,” I call out, my voice as cold as ice. Whoever it is, doesn’t comply. “I don’t like repeating myself,” I bark. As soon as I gave my second warning, all the lights turned on. Blinded for a moment, I blink rapidly to adjust my eyes again. My blood runs cold and my heart stops at the sight in front of me. My beautiful queen, strapped to a chair, her eyes swollen from tears and a nasty bruise on her right cheek. There is blood dripping from the corner of the tap on her mouth and all over her shirt. “Mallory!” I scream, about to run up and untie her from her bounds. “I wouldn’t get too close if I were you,” his voice echoes from wall to wall, stopping me in my track. Alexander! “What have you f*****g done to her!?”I yell, looking around, trying to find his location. His laugh just echoes all around us again. “Tut, tut, tut. That’s no way to make demands. Especially since I am the one in charge here,” He cackles with satisfaction. Step. Step. Step. The sound of his ugly ass crocodile shoes is the only sound heard. Finally, he steps out from the door behind Mallory. He slowly makes his way to her, lacing a hand from behind around her throat. The sight infuriates me. I bawl my first tightly, trying to keep the shred of sanity I have left and stay still. I can’t trust he won’t do anything to hurt Mallory if I step closer. “Isn’t this a wonderful reunion, humm, my darling Orleander?” Mallory whines, trying to move her head away from his as he caresses her cheek with his nose. “Get your f*****g hands off of her your f*****g Bastarda!” I roared, stepping closer. “If I were you, I’d stay where you are standing. You wouldn’t want my hand to slip and break her delicious neck now, would you?” He taunts, laughing at the same time. He caresses her face with his palm before grabbing the side of the tape and ripping it off her mouth, making her cry in pain. “Oh, I have missed those sounds these past few weeks,” he says, closing his eyes for a moment. “You’re sick,” she mumbles, but with the silence of the warehouse, her voice carries far. “You haven’t seen anything yet, my Oleander.” He says, pushing her chin up, grazing his nose along her face. She tries to fight him off, but he holds her tighter. “What the f**k is the meaning of all of this? What do you want?” Lorenzo asks, grinding his teeth. “What do I want, you ask? I want to make you suffer as much as I can before finally killing you. Well, maybe. I might just keep you alive for a while and torture you. It would be most satisfying, wouldn’t it?” “What does Mallory being here, help in torturing me? You’ve had her for nine years already, isn’t that enough?” “Oh, Leo. You really are stupido.” He sneers, shaking his head. “That was only the beginning.”
