Chapter 17 - Mallory's P.O.V.

1217 Words
Mallory’s P.O.V. I can hear their mumbling outside the door. I can’t really hear them clearly, but from the sound of it, something is going on. Something serious that has them on edge. Over the past week, little bits of my past have come crashing down on me. The first time I saw Leo with a gun drawn. I was so nervous that night. The night I moved in with him. He made love to me on every possible surface. The first attack while we were out to dinner. I was absolutely terrified! I almost broke up with him after we were safe at home. The evening he proposed to me. We had the most perfect day. Laughing and spending quiet quality time together. The first time someone tried to kidnap me for flopping their bad business deal. That was the night Leo went ballistic. He took care of everyone who put their hands on me and made sure I was safe. He gave me an out that night, but I refused it. I realize I could never live without the man I love most in the world. All of this is not only taking a toll on my mind but on my body as well. Whatever Alexender’s been giving me for the past five years, is something very strong. Something my body had gotten used to. I rinse my mouth with some water and spit it in the bucket near my bed. I don’t know how many times I have gotten sick over the past few hours, but I just want it to stop. I’m exhausted. I lay back down, closing my eyes, trying to settle down comfortably. The door opens, but I don’t bother opening my eyes to see who it is. I already know who it is. “Has your stomach settled down a little?” Leo asks, wiping the sweat from my forehead. The cool sensation of the cloth made me sigh with relief. “A little,” I whisper, enjoying the cool sensation. He softly passes the cloth all over my face and down my neck, slowly passing it on the nap on my neck, making me moan. “That feels so good,” I mumble. “I’m glad it does,” He says, his voice a little rigid. “What is it?” I ask, opening my eyes slightly. “Nothing,” “You know, I don’t like lies, just as much as you don’t,” I say, arching a brow, giving him the same look he gave me before. He smiles and shakes his head. “Nothing can get past you, can it?” “Nope!” I answer sheepishly. “Now tell me, how bad is it?” “How bad what is?” He asks confused. “How bad is my condition, and how bad are the thing you need to do to cure me?” “How…?” “I have a lot more of my memories back than I have been letting on.” He shakes his head before lowering it with resignation. “You’ll never cease to amaze me, Belissima.” “Are you going to keep avoiding answering me?” ‘Maybe,” I arch a brow, looking at him with an ‘are you serious’ kind of look, making him laugh. “Or maybe not,” “Good answer,” He chuckles before sitting next to me on the bed. “I’ll be gone for a few days. I don’t want you to worry, even though I know you still are. But I, we need to find everyone and anyone who was involved with the making of whatever drug they have been giving you. Including Alexander.” My heart tightens in fear. “Y-You can’t be serious!? It’s far too dangerous!” I stutter trying to sit up. “It is serious, but it's not too dangerous. I’d walk through the gates of hell if it meant finding a cure for you. And Alexander has been roaming around freely for far too long. He needs to be put in his place once and for all,” “But, why does it have to be you doing it?” I ask, but the look on Leo’s face, tells me there will be no changing his mind. “He had taken too much from me. First, he blackmailed you into leaving me with our unborn daughter. I missed her birth. I couldn’t be there to hold your hand and help you through it. I missed her first words, her first crawl, her first steps. I have missed most of her first in her four years of life before I found her back! Then he made me think you were dead! It tormented me for five years! FIVE! He will pay dearly and I will be the one giving him that punishment!” I sigh, knowing he is right about all of it. “Ok,” I murmured, closing my eyes again. I should have thought about it from his point of view. I have been so concentrated on my own pain, that I failed to acknowledge his. “I promise, I will be careful and I will come back to you with a way to cure this…this unbearable pain. I will find a way to make everything better.” He says, placing a soft hand on my cheek, stroking it with his thumb. “Please, please be careful and don’t go alone. I need you to come back to me in one piece. Claire needs you to come back in one piece!” I whisper, choking back a sob. “I will. I promise. I will do anything I can to give us our life back,” He says, kissing my temple before getting up. “I’ll have a few bodyguards stationed outside your door. I am not taking any chances in case things don’t go as planned.” “Ok,” He chuckles. “I never thought there would come a day where you wouldn’t fight me on security for yourself. “Well, It’s not as if I have much of a choice in the matter at the moment, have I?” “No, not really,” he laughs, shaking his head before leaving my room. The sudden silence in my room is deafening. I lose my smile and stare at the closed door. Please, god, if there is a god, keep him safe. Alexander’s P.O.V. “Sir, he’s on the move,” As I expected. But I’m surprised it has taken him this long to even think of coming after me. He’s had Mallory back with him for quite some time. I smile with satisfaction. He’ll be playing into my trap as a cellist creating a masterpiece. “Perfect. Tell everyone to stand by. We have an important guest on the way,” I smirk, standing up and gulping down the remainder of my sweet amber liquid. Lifting my empty glass, I look at the light shining through. Oh, Mallory. My dear Mallory. I’ ’ll make you regret finding your way back to him. I’ll make him suffer by hurting you. My sweet, delicate Oleander. I'll have you back soon. And I’ll relish the pain he’ll be in by the end!
