When Aria Vale is dragged into the territory of the most feared Alpha King in the North, she expects death.

Instead… he claims her.

Ruthless. Cold. Untouchable.

Alpha King Kael Draven has never bowed to anyone — not rival packs, not enemies, not fate itself. But when the scent of his fated mate fills his throne room, it doesn’t bring peace.

It brings war.

Because Aria is no ordinary woman. She carries a secret power buried in her blood — one that could destroy the werewolf kingdom… or rule it.

Kael doesn’t want a mate.

Aria refuses to submit.

But under the full moon, desire burns hotter than hatred. And when enemies close in and betrayal rises within the pack, the only thing more dangerous than the war outside…

…is the hunger growing between them.

Dark. Addictive. Forbidden.

Chapter One: The Scent of Fate
The night Aria Vale crossed into Blackthorne territory, the moon was bleeding. Not red. Not quite silver. But something in between — a swollen, watchful eye hanging over the forest like a warning. She had not meant to trespass. But the border lines between packs were invisible, and hunger had a way of making desperation louder than caution. The forest grew quieter the deeper she went. Too quiet. No insects. No wind. No sound of prey. Her wolf stirred uneasily beneath her skin. We are not alone. The first growl came from behind. Low. Close. Her body reacted before her mind did — she spun, eyes scanning the dark trees. Nothing. Then another growl. To her left. Then another. To her right. They stepped out slowly. Four of them. Massive wolves with black fur that gleamed like wet ink beneath the moonlight. Their eyes glowed gold — not the soft gold of ordinary pack wolves. These were trained killers. Blackthorne warriors. Aria’s heart slammed against her ribs. She raised her hands slowly. “I don’t want trouble,” she said, her voice steady despite the ice in her veins. One of them shifted. Bones cracked. Fur receded. In seconds, a towering man stood before her, naked and unapologetic, scars mapping his chest like trophies. “You’re deep in Alpha territory,” he said coldly. “And you smell wrong.” Wrong? Her wolf bristled. Before she could respond, another wolf shifted. And another. They circled her now. Hunting. Testing. She could fight. But not all four. And something told her they weren’t the worst thing in this forest. That’s when the wind changed. A new scent cut through the air — dark pine, smoke, and something dangerously intoxicating. Every wolf around her stiffened. Then they bowed their heads. Her pulse faltered. No. Not him. The forest seemed to part for him. He stepped forward from the shadows like he owned them. Tall. Broad. Wrapped in black. His coat hung open, revealing a fitted shirt stretched over a chest built for war. Dark hair brushed his forehead, and his eyes— God. His eyes were molten gold. Not soft gold. Not warm. But bright. Ancient. Predatory. He didn’t speak at first. He just looked at her. And inhaled. Everything in the forest shifted. The air thickened. The warriors tensed. And the Alpha King went completely still. Aria felt it. Like a thread snapping tight between them. Her wolf surged forward violently, pressing against her skin. Mate. The word slammed into her mind like thunder. No. No. No. It couldn’t be. Not him. Not the Alpha King of Blackthorne. The most feared ruler in the Northern territories. Kael Draven. His jaw tightened. The golden glow in his eyes deepened. The next inhale he took was slow. Deliberate. Possessive. “You,” he said finally. His voice was low. Rough. Controlled power wrapped in velvet. Aria swallowed but forced herself not to look away. “I didn’t know this was your border,” she said carefully. “I’ll leave.” No one breathed. Kael stepped closer. The ground seemed to respond to him. Even the trees felt tense. “You crossed into my land,” he said. “You breathe my air.” His gaze moved over her face, down her throat, lingering at her collarbone. The weight of it felt like a touch. “Your scent…” he continued, quieter now. “It’s driving my wolf mad.” Heat crept up her spine. She hated the way her body reacted. Her pulse quickened. Her breathing shifted. Her wolf pressed forward again, desperate. Mate. Kael’s nostrils flared. And suddenly he was right in front of her. Too close. She hadn’t even seen him move. His hand lifted slowly — giving her time to flinch. She didn’t. His fingers brushed her jaw. The contact was light. Barely there. But it felt like fire spreading beneath her skin. Her breath caught. The warriors shifted uneasily. No one had seen their Alpha touch anyone like that. Ever. Kael leaned closer. His nose brushed her temple. He inhaled deeply at her neck. The sound that left him was almost a growl. Almost. “You’re mine,” he murmured. The words vibrated against her skin. Aria stepped back immediately. “No.” The warriors stiffened. No one told Kael Draven no. His eyes darkened slightly. “You feel it,” he said calmly. “I don’t care what I feel.” The lie burned on her tongue. Because she did feel it. The pull. The ache. The heat pooling low in her stomach. But she had spent her life surviving. And mates were weakness. Especially when that mate was a king. Kael’s thumb slid along the curve of her jaw again — slower this time. Testing. Her knees nearly buckled. His voice dropped lower. “If you run,” he said softly, “I will chase.” A shiver ran through her. “And if I fight?” she whispered. The corner of his mouth lifted. Dark. Hungry. “Then I will enjoy it.” The tension snapped. Before she could react, he gripped her waist and pulled her flush against him. Her breath left her in a sharp gasp. She felt everything. The hard line of his body. The heat of him. The way his chest rose and fell steadily, controlled, while hers was chaos. His hand slid up her back — not gentle, not rough — just claiming. The warriors looked away. The Alpha King had found his mate. And he was not a patient man. Kael lowered his mouth to her ear. “You crossed into my territory,” he whispered. “Now you belong to it.” His teeth grazed the sensitive skin below her ear. Not biting. Just close enough to promise it. Her nails dug into his chest without permission. A warning. Or surrender. She wasn’t sure anymore. The moon above them burned brighter. And somewhere deep in the forest… War was already beginning to stir.
