We simultaneously looked at the door and then at each other. Panic was written all over our faces.
We hurriedly stood up and started rearranging the things that weren’t in their usual places.
I put the pens in the pen holder and put them in place.
He put the chairs upright.
I took a tissue from the tissue-box to wipe the water off the table.
He put the empty glass back at its place.
I started straightening my dress to appear normal.
He re-tied his tie and arranged his blazer behind his chair.
We looked around once more to check if the office seemed normal or not.
“Come in!” he said finally relaxing a bit.
We were standing opposite to each other with the table separating us far apart.
The door opened to reveal Trish.
He entered and stood beside me.
“Sir, this is the contract for the Windshine Collaboration Project,” he said placing a file on his table.
“Okay!” he said picking up the file and going through it.
I was still in a reverie, observing how devilishly handsome he looked. My gaze traveled from his messy hair, to his enchanting blue orbs, to his perfectly shaped lips, then to a blunder…
“s**t!” I whispered underneath my breath.
There was a lipstick mark on the collar of his shirt.
I slowly brought my thumb to the corner of my mouth to check whether the lipstick color matched or not.
Crap! I thought to myself. It’s mine!
You might have left it while trying to choke him to death! It was my mind.
Shut up mini-me. You aren’t helping at all.
I tried to grab his attention my raising my hand a bit.
He returned my look, underneath his eye lashes.
I slowly brought my hand towards my neck to indicate the blunder.
“Ms. Makrow, you can leave for now,” is what he said instead.
“Actually sir…” I started nervously.
“We’ll talk later!” he stated angrily, looking at me.
I gave him a fake smile in return and stormed out of his office.
“Let him suffer for all I care,” I started talking to myself, “Here I am, trying to help that fool and there he is, kicking me out of his office. Bloody creep!”
I was on my way to my desk, when someone called my name from behind. I stopped in my tracks, plastered an all fake smile and turned to find Trish there.
“Yes, Trish?”
“Mr. Walter wanted you in his office now”
“I believe he just kicked me out”
“Um…”he shrugged in response.
I sighed heavily.
When will this day get over? I asked myself.
I reached his office and knocked twice, awaiting a response optimistically.
“Come in!”
I opened the door to find him sitting on his desk, engrossed in his laptop. He didn’t bother to look up!
He’s getting on my nerves.
I tried to calm myself down. I took a deep breath and finally decided to break the silence.
“Sir, you asked for me?”
“Yeah, just wanted to inform you that you’re having the dinner with me,” he said without bothering to look up.
Arrogant ass!!
“Sorry sir, but I have prior engagements” I tried to decline his invitation. KEYWORD: Tried
“I believe those engagements can’t be more important than having dinner with your boss?” he said finally looking up from that irritating device.
“You’re not my boss!” I snapped.
Ivy, there has to be limits for jealousy! My mind went into an over drive altogether.
What are you saying mini-me?
You are getting jealous from a laptop, Ivy!
Shut-up mini-me, please! I hissed at it.
I closed my eyes for a moment to regain my composure and took a deep-breath.
“Yes, I am!” his tone made it clear that there was no room for argument, “Be ready by 7, I’ll come to pick you” he said and went back to working.
“What if I deny?”
“We’ll have it in your room by choice Ms. Makrow”
My jaw dropped. My room? He got to be kidding me!
“Are you aware of the fact that you are an arrogant ass?” I asked in a sugarcoated tone to piss him off.
His eyebrow shot-up as he looked at me.
“Stop trying to piss me off Ms. Makrow, cause I won’t be changing my decision,” he said in a mocking tone.
I knew its useless arguing.
“By the way, the lipstick color is quite good right?” I asked smirking at him.
He looked at me, confused!
“What are you talking about, Ivy?”
Now we are on first name basis, are we? I thought to myself.
“Why don’t you figure out yourself?” I said and stormed out of his office.
