THE TRIGGER
Aurelia’s POV He took me up in his hands, and it felt as though I had belonged there. His soft, yet strong hands cupped my butt up in a sensual rhythm. His perfectly tailored Louis Vuitton suit clad perfectly on his well toned muscles, damn! He was my dream man. “You're too innocent to be seen at places like this.” he whispered while he gently put me down on the bed in one of the VIP rooms in the club. “I didn't know it's a masked party” I whispered while trying to get his mask off his face. He stopped me, and immediately, he put his lips on mine. Good Heavens! Laurent never kissed me this softly before. That bloody fool! He squeezed my boobs lightly, his other hand traced down to my belly button, I felt moist in between my legs…his hands reached down—carefully pushing my folds aside, he slipped a finger in. “Aarrghhhh!” I whispered. **************************************** BEFORE IT ALL BEGAN “Fuckkkkk!” I slammed my hands on the table in our one room apartment. It was the second rejection this week, and I've submitted about seven application letters to different organizations, and I kept getting rejected. They always tell me my grades are good, and I have a deep insight about psychology but, ‘we'll get back to you.’ “Of course, I have a vast knowledge of what I studied, not like I had any choice than to love the boring and useless course!” I cursed out. “Aury, you really need to stop beating yourself up.” Cassie, my childhood best friend, snapped, sliding across the bed and showing me a board of dinner dresses from Pinterest. “I need a job and not dinner dresses. Some of us don't have rich boyfriends to spoil us” I said, referring to Cassie's rich boyfriend, Montclair. “...let's just attend this party and you'll meet…” Cassie went on. “Besides, I have a boyfriend.” I cut her off and rolled my eyes. “You call Laurent a boyfriend? He's a piece of s**t! This is the right way to get you a wealthy and handsome man. You know red dresses compliment your skin.” “I don't care.” I hissed. “let us attend this party, pleaseeee” Cassie muttered. “Attending such a party without Laurent is cheating” I snapped. “That can't be considered cheating. You're just having fun.” She said. Laurent and I have been together since university, we've had our ups and downs but cheating has never been in the picture of our relationship, even though whenever we had issues, he sometimes makes stupid remarks of making a mistake of approaching me instead of Cassie the night we met, I still believed he loved me. “I don’t want to hurt him.” I whispered. “Uh — okay, but you're still attending this party as far as I'm concerned,” Cassie stuttered. It was one of the parties organized by Cassie's rich boyfriend, Montclair, at Monteno's Club, a place Milan's young drug dealers come to spend their cash on women. This might be a good chance to pitch myself for a job. It’s been two years since I graduated. I have worked two petty jobs, and my mother has been leaning on the mini grocery store my father left behind. It was barely enough to pay off all the bills in our rented apartment. Life wasn't as pleasant as we hoped it'd be. If life demands, I go down certain corrupt paths just to make ends meet, then I'd be a fool to not try. “How much is this one? I love the ruffles.” I said, pointing at a Fashion Nova dress on Cassie's phone. “It says 58 dollars, that's fair though,” Cassie said with a shrug. “Nah. I don't have that for a dress.” I muttered. “Don't worry, I got you, Aury.” she reassured. “ What would I do without you, Cassie? Thank you, love.” I gushed with a blush on my face. We ordered our dresses for the night, and Cassie left for her boyfriend's crib. “What party are you girls planning to attend?” my mom asked. “Just some high school reunion party mummy,” I lied. My mother had always detested late night hangouts after the incident that took my father's life two years ago. She has been cautious of our whereabouts, and has always hammered on the fact that we owed debts we may never be able to pay off and the people we owed are dangerous men who wanted us to suffer. My mother has avoided my questions so many times about who exactly the bad men are, how the debts came about, and why they'd want us to suffer. “Better be careful, and make it home on time” she warned. My boyfriend Laurent was supposed to take me on a lunch date at our usual spot, but where was Laurent? “IT’S 3 PM, WHERE ARE YOU???”I texted him. My phone screen lit up immediately, and it was a text from Laurent. “I'M SORRY BABE, I GOT CAUGHT UP AT WORK. LET'S LEAVE THE DATE TILL TOMORROW, OK? I LOVE YOU!” I felt my heart drop to my belly on seeing the texts from Laurent. Laurent never canceled any of our dates. What exactly would keep him at work? He worked shifts with a German boy at a bar in the urban area. He was meant to be available for lunch! With so much rage eluding me, I picked up my phone and clicked to FaceTime him, but he didn't take the call. I planned on letting him know about the party at lunch, but I knew he would not like the idea of me attending, well…it's a good thing I didn't tell him. My phone rang, and it was Cassie. “Hey b***h, I'll meet you at the party cause I'll be running late with Montclair. A rider is on the way to deliver your dress…make sure to look extra sexy.” she said over the phone. “Trust me to do just that.” I said and hung up. I got ready for the party and a ride picked me up. By the time i got there, the party was filled up, with blasting music from all corners—I detested such gatherings. I just wished Cassie was here to shield me from the devouring eyes of these men. “You look ravishing, let me take you to bed, Señorita.” A blonde haired man said, while offering to take my hands. Disgust rushed through my body, I felt like giving him a hard kick on his groins. Wait… isn't that Montclair? I sighted him at the bar getting drinks with his friends so I walked up to him. “Hi, Where's Cassie please?” I asked. “Cassie? She's meant to be with you, she called and said both of you will leave for the party together.” His voice sounded worried. “Uhh…that's strange, because she told me she would be coming with you” I stuttered. He waved off my words with his hands as though it didn't matter to him that his girlfriend wasn't at the party. “Come, I'll introduce you to my potential friends, they'll have a few job openings,” he whispered to my ears. Cassie must have told him about how I've been bickering to get a better job by all means. He didn't care that Cassie wasn't at the party. Maybe they had a little couples fight. I took out my phone to dial Cassie, but he interrupted. “Meet my friend Aurelia, she's really good at what she does. Aurelia, this is Lance.” he said, introducing me to his friend. What does that even mean? Montclair you barely know me, I thought to myself. “Hi, good evening,” I shook his hands with a fake smile and turned back immediately. It didn't feel right, I had to go look for Cassie, I couldn't reach her on the phone, so I had to drive over to her house just to see if she was there. I arrived at Cassie's apartment and her lights weren't on. I rang the doorbell but no one responded. I dialed her phone again, it rang, but she didn't take it. A cold shiver crawled down my spine, my hands became shaky. I had to go back to the party to let Montclair know that Cassie isn't at home either. But I halted on my tracks when I heard sounds from inside the house… “Mmm…yeahhh!” That was Cassie's voice, is she…? “Yesss…fuck me like that!” I pushed the entrance door and it wasn't locked, thankfully. “Cassie! Are you home?” I called out. There was no response, so I stomped towards the stairs that led to her room. The moans became clearer. “arrghhh!” came the voice again. “What the f**k!” I whispered. As I approached the door, the sound of skin slapping against skin got louder and their moans got even louder. Cassie’s f*****g a random? Montclair has to be the most oblivious person I know because why— “Fuckkk! You ride better than her. You feel so f*****g good!” The random man spoke and that caught my attention immediately. No two people I know have that voice. “f**k! You ride more than her… yeahhh” That voice sounded familiar… my heart was pounding on hearing that voice. I pushed the door open, the room was slightly lit up cause of the table lamps, Cassie was on top of a man, his hands held her butt up in a tight grip, her breasts dangled over his face, his lips were on her n*****s, and drops of sweat rolled down both their bodies. Cassie jolted immediately but the man held her tight, making it difficult to reveal his face. “Aury, what are you doing here, you—are meant to be at the— part—y…” she turned to me trying to catch her breath. I just knew immediately she had bounced the hell out of that man, whoever he is. The whole room smelled repulsive! I stood at the doorway, my hands trembling uncontrollably, my heart pounded loudly and it downed everything else. I couldn't move a single muscle, there was something about the man on the bed with Cassie, the tattoos on his right arm looked similar to… No, no…, I couldn't believe my eyes, there was no way this was happening…
