Chapter 7- Drimys

Sheila Marie just stared blankly at him since the incident and it kind of unnerved her. She doesn't know what to say to him, so she blurted out the first word she could form "What?" She asked in genuine curiosity, oddly enough, she was not panicking. Furthermore, she frowned for a second then understanding lit her eyes. "Well, I was wrong to call you insane. Seems like you were telling the truth and I just couldn't accept it. I still have thousands of questions though, and I may not be able to believe it but look at me." She said gesturing to herself. Still amazed by the wonderful threadlike essence of a vampyre. "I'm proof the world isn't what it seems. She ended her mouth snapped shut as she went to look for the man whose eyes so blue staring at her like she was a different species altogether. Her cheeks turned pink when she realized this vampyre could read her thoughts. Vergel was taken aback by the honesty in her voice. He doesn't even recognize he had sat down until he felt her cold hands brush against him. The moment she did, Vergel knew that the need to protect her and keep her blood from anyone hit him hard. There was a scent in her blood that made him bowed his head and kneel on his knees. The need to protect this human was his calling. He knew that now. For centuries, he walked in circles, not knowing what his purpose, but now he knew what it was. "You need to feed or else there are some consequences when your bloodlust will emerge." He said and offered his arm again. "I'm sorry but no, that's just bloody disgusting. I am not a vampyre and for the fact that I wasn't bitten by one." "Yes, you are, and no." "What the, what do you mean by that?" She gawked as she looked at him. "You are not technically a vampyre, nor you are a human," Vergel added as his forehead creased. "I'm confused, and you are making it worse." Sheila Marie began to pace around. "I'll tell you everything later, for now, you need to feed, how hard could it be, you just have to bite my arm and be done with it." "Eh...that's disgusting, I'm not doing that, I am hungry but not with blood. I need real food." She asserted and stopped pacing around. "By any chance, do you know where Julius is?" "Who?" He asked as his eyes glinted with anger. "My friend, the owner of this apartment by the way." She trailed off and glared at him, "...How did you come inside? Nobody invited you in." "Stupid human films, those Hollywood movies were all exaggerating." "Garlic?" She leered. "Hell No" "Sunlight?" "Yes... But some ancient vampyre can walk through it without a problem." "Interesting, ... Edward?" Her mouth curved into a smile. "Who is this Edward?" "You know, sparkling in the sun? And pale skin." "That was the most stupid thing ever..." his forehead furrowed, "...really for one thing, those Hollywood films were overdoing it all together." There was no reprimand in his voice, there was only amusement as well as little arrogance, after all, he was the first vampyre who happened to see her in person. When unexpectedly, a shrill shriek echoed across the apartment door, cutting through Sheila's thoughts like a bolt of lightning. Tiny dark dots dance into her vision. "What the hell was that?" Sheila Marie asked in panic. She got her answer when the door abruptly opened, there was a hooded person in the door. Though he seemed to be making a feat to conceal his head jerked side to side, as there was so much conflict in him it had to be released, like a kettle letting out steam. Yet, the ugliest person on the planet emerged as it opened its mouth and spat a greenish acid-like liquid at them. Vergel jerked and pull her hard with him as they avoided the liquid. "You might want to survive by avoiding his acid." "Who is that?" She asked in a panic. "It's the Drimys," he replied. "You don't want to be on his bad side though." "Oh God, why is he here killing us?" She trailed off, as they ran into the kitchen. "...what is that liquid coming from his mouth, oh s**t!?" Sheila Marie breathed in and out but air wouldn't enter her lungs. Starved for air, her heart raced at incredible speeds, and her lungs shallowly rose and fell in time. She stood there for what felt like an eternity but was only five seconds. "The world's strongest acid, at least a million times more potent than concentrated sulfuric acid." He replied as he went to check the windows. They might need to jump out now. "Jump." "Are you crazy?" She panicked. There was nothing worse than making herself scared. When frightened she lost all rationality and became an anomaly that would do anything to survive. Her thinking was so contorted. All the adrenaline in her system made her so desperate. The satisfaction of protection was nothing but a frigid memory, and an unseen force ground her from every feasible path. Each second immersed in anxiety made a continuous mark on her heart, and a vivid foresight made her wonder whether it was just her mind playing tricks or reality. "...Dammit" She murmured in fear. "No, and don't worry you won't feel a thing," Vergel encouraged her, his world was black and white for him, everything was either a fine or destructive threat, to him there were only those two categories. He was like a firework, either stable and in its box, or erupting. He knew he could kill the enemy if he wanted to, but with this human beside him, the odds were not on their side. The Drimys have been made in a lab in California. He was a dying man that was willing to let the scientist experiment on him. After many trials and experiments, the studies were successful as he survives battling his cancer and however transforms him into a beast. He spits acid that is also one of the least corrosive, yet it was the compound that was named 'super acid'. Even the previous record-holder, fluorosulphuric acid was so abrasive that it would eat straight through the glass yet the Drimys acid was more potent, and they were evolving faster than ever before. And it's now slamming the kitchen door towards them. s**t! s**t. "Okay now jump dear."
