Welcome to Bryson City
My name is Sonya Gray, Commander in the New Federation. We've stayed Hidden in Bryson City for as long as I could Remember, trying to get rid of those vermins, but the more we try, they just seem to multiply.
This could only mean one thing-all of Africa had been infected. Bryson city was where the Virus originated, we're still unsure of how it started. I'd lost many of my men to the war between humans and those flesh eating crawlers.
I watched as the rest of my men teamed up into units, we had to go get food, weapons and supply at the surface. There's no telling how much would die today.
"Team Vipers, and team blue bottle, come with me.
Team badger, you're on standby. if we do not come before midnight, you know what to do. understood?!.
I shouted out my orders, Team Vipers were skilled swordsmen, while Team Bluebottles were skilled shooters. Team badgers were skilled snipers, since we might encounter casualties while going out, they'd help in taking out the crawlers that were nearby.
"Yes commander !" All teams shouted out their reply.
As we prepared to move out, someone called out my name, and walked towards me.
"Commander Gray, The Commander would like to speak with you." Phillip said, holding my hand.
"Cali, get the guys to check and pack up the equipments, we head out in five." Calisto nodded.
Phillip Quinn was the scientist who'd worked in the new federation. I'd always had hope he'd find a cure. He was tall, well built, the nerdy type of guy, always in glasses. He wore jeans and a plain short sleeved black T-shirt that displayed his brawny arms, i'd wondered how he could have such killer bod, and still be a nerd.
His eyes was the spring storm when the sun was just coming out, the grays and blues mixed beautifully, unlike my green ones. His blonde disheveled hair fell across his face, his bronzed skin only enhanced his beauty.
"Okay" I nodded, and went away with him. The commander's office was in a corridor.
As we walked into the corridor, he pinned me in a swift movement, to the wall, his lips locking with mine. My fingers found it's way into his hair, he lifted me off the ground, and I wrapped my legs around him, his lips claimed mine hungrily, and I responded with the same hunger, after we kissed for what seemed like a minute, he tore his lips away from mine, we both stared into each other's eyes, panting for lack of air.
"Sonya, do you really have to go?" He asked me, slightly out of breath. His voice a mere whisper, I could see the fear in his eyes.
"I have to. It's my job. If I don't, these people would starve to death."
"Let the others go, you're the commander, you don't have to go with them, I could talk to my mom about it."
The Commander, Juliet Quinn, was the mother of this freakishly handsome guy, he was nothing like his mother. She was beautiful, but small, I'd mostly wondered how she'd managed to give birth to him. She was the commander of The Federation, and I was the squad commander.
"No!, I can't do that!. They're my men. I have to go with them." I huffed with exasperation.
He sighed, burying his head in the crook of my neck. He'd always hated the idea of me going out to the surface. Even though his mother liked me, I did'nt earn my position as the commander by abandoning my men, or letting them go up to the surface alone.
"Hey, look at me." I said, pulling his head up.
"I'd come back. I won't die, I'll come back for you." I said, smiling, I had lied, I was in no way sure of coming back alive. Going up to the surface was risky, one bite from the crawlers and that was the end. I've watched many of my men get bitten by them.
"Okay." He said, trying to hide how scared he was, of me dying. A weak smile flickered across his face. He gently lifted me down, and we walked to the commander's office. He tugged the door open, and I walked in. He waved me goodbye and headed back to his office.
"Commander, you called" she sat behind her desk, going through some files. She had her gray hair in a bun, a small face, and she wore glasses. She founded the federation, she brought me in many years ago.
She adjusted her glasses as she spoke. "Sit" after I sat on the extra chair in front of the desk, she continued with her words. "You're going to the surface?"
"Yes, we're out of supplies, and they'd only last us a week. If we do not go out now, the people would starve to death."
"Our rader shows that the crawlers had been increasing, in that particular place you're going to, don't you think it's risky.?"
Of course I knew it was risky, but, there was nothing more risky than an angry mob of 3,000 hungry people. It was a risk I and my men had to take.
"I know Commander, Osborn showed me. I also know it's risky, but it's our job."
She sighed, "alright then, you be safe." She said, and I could hear the concern in her voice.
"Thanks commander." I got off the chair, and headed for the door. Both mother and son we're concerned about me dying, this was definitely a bad omen. Maybe something bad was going to happen. I shrugged the terrible thoughts off my mind, as I walked towards my team.
When I'd gotten there, I tightened the lace on my boots, opened my locker, I strapped my S&W 629 PC 44 magnum 7.5 Barrel revolver to my right, and my G45P compact 9×19 MM glock to my left cargo pant. I tucked my flick knife in the strap of my boot, and after examining my Katana's sharpness, I tugged it in it's sheath, strapping it to my back. We were ready to go. Seeing my men had also been prepared, I called to them..
"Let's move out !."
