I was still mad when I got to the room. For one, I had forgotten mine and Kinslys' hot chocolate. Two; I ran into Lawson. My sworn Hockey Enemy (even if he didn't know or cared who I was. I still hate him). And three; I was hit in the face. Like, why? There are literal rules against playing puck in the hall. What ignorant b*t*head would ignore the rules so clearly set in place for the safety of others?
My whole team was aware of my dislike for Lawson, as I was very loud and spoken about my grievances for him. I would tell everyone who would listen, how he hit like a wuss, and that every time I hit him and was sent to the penalty box he should have come with me because he deserved it as much as I did. Also, I would complain about how he had the same jersey number as me. All because one time during the first ever game against his team, neither team brought their dark jerseys, so, it was light blue (practically white because it was white until the coach accidentally washed the dark and light jerseys together when his wife wasn't home.) against white, and the stupid zebra got me and him confused after he did an illegal hit, and, because he has the same number, I went to the box in his place! I could fight the Ref on it because my team really wanted the sportsmanship banner.
Now that I was out of the crowd that was near the canteen, I was able to properly inspect the foam puck that had hit me in the face. I started turning it in my hands, paying more attention than I had been before. Slightly rubbed off, were the initials, N.L. I was one step closer to figuring out Lawson's first name.
Lawson is a surprisingly popular last name, so I needed more than that to find him. Why did I need to find his online accounts? So I could pettily report them, and get him banned. Why? See statements above. Also, he seems like an entitled rich brat.
"KAY! Earth to KAY!" Kins yelled from her spot on the bench.
I realized I had been standing in the doorway to the dressing room for quite some time, like a weirdo, just staring at a foam puck.
I went and sat in the corner, closer to Bax, so that Kins could still be beside Johna. Coach had a no-dating the girls policy set on the boys, but that didn't mean that Kins and Johna couldn't still crush on each other.
"Why were you standing there like a weirdo? Ooooh, what's in your hands? Is that a foam puck?! Kay! Coach said we couldn't bring those! You. The stickler for rules, broke them and brought a puck???" Kins asked in her verryy rapid fire way.
"NO! Of course, I didn't break the rules!" I stated defensively, then bitterly added from between my teeth "it hit me in the face".
"Ahh, that makes more sense." she paused, thinking it over. "Wait, what? Hit you in the face?! Wheres the offender? I need to beat his a**".
I laughed at her antics. I was very like her to offer to beat someone up for me. I was quiet and kind when off the ice. On it not so much. This meant that whenever we weren't on the ice she'd be all up in my business, so if someone hurt me or bugged me she'd threaten to beat them for me.
Kins was a beautiful, kind woman. Although if you mentioned that to her, she would say that it didn't take away from her skill as a hockey player. And she's right. But... She is very beautiful. She has long brown hair that frames her short round face. She has striking ice blue eyes, and an adorable nose. She's freakishly tall too. Like, I'm tall at 5'7, but she's around 5'10. She also has freckles. Freckles! I am not a jealous person, but I am jealous of her freckles.
I responded to her rampage by saying "Down, girl. Down." "No, I don't need you to beat anyone up for me. I handled it."
"Did you now?" she asked skeptically.
"I have his puck, don't I?"
"Ture, true"
We laughed.
Bax scooched in closer to me on the bench. He suddenly grabbed my head, turning it up and down, inspecting it aggressively. "That bas*ard didn't hurt my best center, did he?"
I laughed at his concern. "No!" I kept laughing as he continued to twist my head, looking for any signs of injury. "But you might if you don't stop turning my head like that." I laughed some more. Bax immediately dropped my head. Eye's wide.
"Did I?" He asked, full of concern.
"No buddy", I smiled and we laughed.
I think Bax has a crush on me, but he'd never act on it as he has too much respect for the coach, and for me.
Bax is my right-winger. He is amazing at his job and has a real shot at college hockey, maybe even the NHL if he decides to pursue it. He's pretty cute, and very kind. He is definitely protective of me though. Not, "ill beat them up" like Kins, but more; in my corner, glaring, kind of protection.
I love my line. We are the power play against all teams. There's me; the centerman. Bax, my right-wing, Bax's twin (no, their not identical) Jax, who is my left wing. Jack and Kyle are my defensemen. Sadly, Kins isn't allowed to be my defensemen because one of the rules for us girls being on the team is we both can't be on the same line. Which is a da*m shame because Kins is THE best defensemen on the team.
"So," Jhona leaned in, over Kins, " do you know who hit you with the puck?"
My smile from my interaction dropped.
"Yes" I said bitterly.
"Who?" Jax interjected from beside Bax.
"Lawson," I said bitterly.
They laughed. The four of them fu**ing laughed.
I just sat and glared.
"Did he do it on purpose?" asked Kins laughing a little still, but at least she looked a little concerned. Unlike the other arseholes who were still laughing at me.
"No" I replied. "I don't think he even recognized me. I'm even wearing half my gear, and he still didn't put it together".
Johna's laugh died down enough for him to tell me; "At least we're playing them next. You'll be able to get your revenge on the ice."
"What?" Me, Kins, Bax and Jax all asked at the same time. No more laughter coming from any of them.
"Yea?" Johna replied, looking at us curiously.
We weren't supposed to play his team again, unless they made it to the provincial's, then we'd play them there.
"Yeah" Johna said with a little more confidence. Didn't you guys see TeamChat? The team we were gonna play got kicked because a bunch of the boys were caught coking up in the bathroom before a game. Their whole team got kicked from competing in provincials and the boys caught are kicked from their team and from all future games and tournaments if they join another team."
"WHAT?" The four of us yelled to Johna when he finished talking.
"Yea" he said again, nodding at us, with his eyebrows raised.
"Wowwww", Bax and Jax dragged out.
"Wow indeed" I agreed.
Coaches Harlin and Zeller walked into the room. Harlin back pin straight, Zeller a bit more relaxed. Harlin looked all of us over and asked, "Would anyone like to admit to doing drugs?"
Utter silence. I have NEVER, not once, heard these boys be quiet for more than 5 seconds.
