Lonly wolves do not last long

My body still frozen, I managed to whisper. "Yes... I remember..." "okay... good... How do you feel?" It took me a moment to return to myself and really think about what would be an honest answer here, because I needed to be honest. Serving the tie to your pack like that can cause a lot of damage. Darcy knew a lot about it as he was the alpha and all that. "I... I don't know. At a loss probably? It feels like there is a part of me that missing, but I still feel it there." He looked calm as he let me talk. "That sounds normal under these circumstances. You naturally are trying to feel the connection to a pack that you had your whole life, so you unconsciously are trying to reach them now because you feel unsafe, so naturally you are seeking comfort from them and that is why the feeling of loss is that much stronger right now." He was quiet for a moment and his eyes concentrated on mine. "And your wolf?" There was so much more to this question and I could tell by how tense he suddenly got as he asked me that. I guess that my wolf would be most affected by this. Losing a pack really messes up wolves, but the question remains how mine will react to it. The only problem here was that my wolf was not really connecting with me... or maybe she was just numb from all the pain she was under and the loss she felt. "She... she is hurt... sad... and very lost. It's very hard to filter out her emotions, but mostly she is just numb... like maybe cold..." Sadness filled his face as he reached out to hold my cheek. At that moment, I saw his eyes darken. This was his wolf reaching out to mine. Just like I and Darcy had a connection in our human way, our wolves also bonded a long time ago. It was clear that he was sensing her pain and wanted to give her comfort. I let my wolf surface, and we leaned into his palm. She released a little sound, much like one a wounded animal would make. Darcies wolf leaned in close and pressed his forehead against mine and just held us like that for a moment. These last few days have been a lot for my wolf, so it's no surprise she is barely holding on. Starting with the mate thing... and now this... Darcy made a soft humming sound and my wolf answered it with her own little cry. My eyes started to water and I knew that it was not me crying, but her. He leaned in and kissed away the tears and just laid a soft kiss on my forehead. A moment later, he pulled us into his arms, forcing my face into his neck. His scent worked like the best sedative and I felt my wolf relax bit by bit in his arms. The fear and uneasiness were still there, but she managed to relax... I guess she trusted him enough to relax and breathe for a moment without the fear of... well, everything. She started to slip away and I resurfaced. I'm pretty sure Darrcys wolf noticed that and started to slip into the background a bit, but he is still on high alert. It's quite possible that he promised to keep watch over her while she rests and that is why she finally settled down. "She is just tired." Darcy whispered in my ear and gave him a little nod. "When do you think I can join your pack...if..." "Do not even think of finishing that question. Of course, you will join my pack, but first you and your wolf need to heal a bit. You are both too hurt and fragile for something like pack acceptance or mating. If I tried to do any of that now your body would most likley reject it and then..." He did not need to finish it. I already knew what that meant. If your wolf goes without a pack for a long time, it always leads to insanity. Without anyone to trust your wolf just can't exist and it just looses all of their marbles, making them very very dangerous. So if I did reject Darcys pack, then I would most likely end up on of them. With my eyes closed I gave him a short nod and he softly stroked my hair. "But soon. It all depends on how fast you both heal, but as soon I would be sure that it would not hurt you, I will invite you to the pack, you can be sure in that." He kissed my forehead again and all melted into him again. My body fully relaxed into his and I was floating somewhere in space when loud shouts filled the hall by the room, Darcy's body went stiff for a moment, as if he was ready to fight, but then we both heard the voice on the other side of the door. Right then we both released an exhausted breath because we knew who was there very well. "I don't care what are your orders, you will take me to him right this instance." My fathers angry tone usually made me shiver, but this time I felt nothing, no fear or sadness... just nothing... okay maybe some annoyance. A few moemts latter the doors were ripped open and my father stepped inside. His eyes lingered on our half dressed bodies as he took a deep breath ready to shout at us, but Darcy was faster. "If you dare to raise your voice at us right now, I will make sure that you regret it. Valerie has been through enough, without your little dramas. So leave before I have to force you out." The cold calmness in his voice made lean more into him, seeking more of his comfort, that he was more than happy to share. "What are you doing here by the way? I made it clear that you should not come here up until she asks for you?"
