“We have a problem, Knox,” I say as I walk into his office, where he sighs, he knows it as well. He looks up from his phone and meets my eyes. “We have a witness.” he looks at his computer and nods. I know he is thinking about what we could do. Last month, we had a fight with one of our enemies and we killed them all, but we had a pest that saw and heard everything.
Knox looks at me again. “Well…we can not have them running around telling people what they saw. Go with Merlin and see what you can find out about them. We might have to bring them in to make sure they do not say a word.” I nod and walk out of his office, I know he is right, we can’t have them running their mouth, might as well get them and see what they know before we think of a way to end them.
I join my brothers downstairs, they both look up at me and nod at Merlin. “We have work to do, come on.” he joins me and we head out looking for all sorts of information about the witness.
Merlin is difficult to read as a person, he keeps to himself, he had a difficult past, as we all did, and it makes us who we are today. After spending all day looking for information, we met with one of our buddies Reece. Now when we got the information for me, we thought it would be some junkie or someone like that, but we never expected this. We thought it was a kid or an old man, that would have been easy to deal with, an easy job, but this, as I hold the information in my hand. f**k. This s**t isn't good we might have trouble.
We sit at the dinner table and Kox looks at me. “What did you find brother?” I clear my throat and look into his eyes. “This might not be so easy, we thought it was just a kid or an old person, an easy job ya know?” Knox nods and waves his hand for me to continue. I suck in a deep breath and send him over the information I found out, he doesn’t look at it, he waits for me. “The name is Mazikeen, she is 23 as of currently, no family that could be found, and she was the witness.”
Sam and Merlin look at the information, then Sam speaks up. “It looks like she was kicked out from her family, or they are dead, the folder is locked, so I have no idea what else she could be hiding.” he looks up at Knox, “What do you want us to do about this?”
Knox sighs again and runs a hand down his face, “We will have to go and collect, but let's send some men first, if they can not get her or find her, then we will do the job ourselves.”
Knox likes to see what people are capable of before we have to step in, he is the face of our company, we might be the richest men in the city but we can not be too careful, there are people out there who may want us dead, so we have to be careful, but if life was not like that, it would be boring as f**k!
