My heart was beating faster and faster, the longer I looked at his face. His face full of passion quickly turned into confusion as his mind cleared at my calling his name.
“What did you-?”
“Times up gentleman!” Andy called out, ringing the bell. “Please make your way to the exit.”
With that snapping me back into reality, I quickly jumped back and went back into my workplace mind, waving bye to them with my bloodied hand as they left, all of them being extra slow to leave as they drank in the last of my scent.
Darius however, never stopped looking at me as I sat there, waving goodbye. Andy helped him out and quickly went to grab my robe and went to the back to grab a quick cloth to wipe up my hand.
Accelerated healing is another vampire myth that is true, so thankfully my hand was already healing.
But that isn't what got me panicked.
‘What the hell is he doing here? And what the hell was I thinking?! Saying his name?’ I cursed myself as I took my mask off to drink some water.
“Fuck.” I cursed under my breath.
Wyatt came back in, rocking a small bit of blood coming from his nose.
“First newcomer to get blacklisted for a month.” He stated, wiping his nose. “And for a skinny little s**t, he packs a punch–”
He stopped when he saw me flustered, but I quickly went back to my stone face before he could sense I was panicking.
“Ahh, so Tina blacklisted him. Great.” I stammered out as I put my mask back on. “How many clients do I have left?”
“No more, you're done with clients for the night-” he walked over to me, seeing through my attempt to remain calm. “What's wrong?”
I cleared my throat and shook my head.
“Nothing. Just a little freaked out at the idea of nearly losing my finger tonight.” I joked. “Should've picked someone else for that bit.”
“Yeah, maybe. But you're-”
“Hey, the Phlebs are ready for you.” Andy interrupted Wyatt at the right time. “Got six orders and Tina is getting some food ready for when you're done.”
“Great! I'm starving.” I said, tying my robe a little tighter and looking for my corset. “Hey, where did-”
“Right here.” Wyatt said, handing it out to me. “Come on, I'll escort you there myself.”
I didn't bother putting it back on since I'm gonna be laying in a chair for a minute while they get the product ready. Andy lifted me up and off the stage with little effort and promptly left without another word.
“Thanks Andy.” I said after him.
I looked to Wyatt and he merely smiled.
“Jonathan isn't the only one you got to tonight.” He said as we started walking. “He's been to the bathroom four times tonight in-between acts. It's a miracle he isn't a dehydrated mess.”
Right as he said that, we spotted Andy at the bar downing a bottle of water like it's the last thing he'll ever drink.
“Spoke too soon.” Wyatt said as I giggled.
“So much for being the toughest guy here.” I stated as we made our way to the back.
“Who said he was?” Wyatt asked. “I thought I was.”
“Emma thinks he is. I think it's just because she has a thing for him.” I stated. “But she also has a thing for you as well.”
Wyatt chuckled at that as we walked by her stage, sneaking a peak at her performance.
“Don't worry, I won't tell your wife.” I joked and he shook his head. “Besides, she's a good kid in a happy relationship already. And I don't think Tina will like it if Dee rips her head off.”
“Yeah, Delilah is pretty….” He paused for a second. “What's the word?”
“Territorial?” I asked.
“That's the one.” He replied.
The walk to the Phlebs was pretty much silent and once we made it to the door, he stayed outside to make sure none of them tried anything crazy.
“I'll be out here when you're done.” he added before closing the door.
The room was clean and crisp like a hospital room, and cold like a refrigerator.
“f**k, I always forget how cold it is in here.” I said as I grabbed a blanket from one of the metal cabinets.
“Gotta keep the blood on ice.” Rebecca stated. “Besides, I thought you were a vamp. Aren't you guys supposed to be immune to the cold?”
I got comfortable in the chair as she pulled on purple latex gloves and got her stuff ready.
“I'm still only half.” I reminded her. “That’s why I don't drink as much as the others do here.”
“Ahh, right. Half the cravings and all the strength.” She hummed out as tied the tourniquet on my arm. “When are you supposed to have the final ritual by the way? If you don't mind me asking.”
I shrugged my shoulders in response.
“I don't know.” I shivered out as she rubbed my arm down with alcohol. “Still waiting on a call from my dad. When that happens, I gotta head to his old town and honor the–ouch!”
Rebecca stuck the needle in before I was even ready and caught me off guard.
It's funny. Cutting myself to draw blood doesn't hurt, but needles make my skin crawl.
“Sorry, I figured it was a good time while you were distracted.” She stated as she began filling a small pint of my blood. “Anyways, what were you saying?”
I sighed out in annoyance at thinking about the time for my final ritual.
“It's not important anyways.” I said. “Besides, my dad has to be the one to contact me first about the time, and as far as I know, he doesn't even know where I am.”
She hummed in acknowledgement as she fished the needle around until she found my vein and taped it down.
“Rocky relationship with your old man?” She asked while keeping her attention on my arm.
“Definitely. Haven't spoken to him since I became a half-blood.” I continued on. “If it's not him getting ahold of me, he might just send–”
My brain short circuited when I remembered.
“Might just send who?” Rebecca asked, switching out the bags with an empty one.
“Uhh….” My entire face heated up. “He might send his bodyguard after me.”
