Chapter 4It seemed like they were climbing into the stars. Guy glanced over to Dane, but he was looking straight ahead, both hands on the steering wheel. Guy tilted his head back again, watching through the open sunroof as more and more stars filled his vision. Entire worlds and galaxies spun over his head, and Guy couldn’t imagine anything more beautiful. The memory of Los Angeles’s orange sky seemed oppressive now. He couldn’t even imagine going back. “How far are we going?” “Up to the top of the mountain. You’ll be able to see out to the ocean.” But Guy wasn’t interested in the ocean. The sky reminded him of black velvet with millions of tiny, silver holes. It seemed ridiculous to get this excited over stars, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t remember the last time he had
