The next morning, I got up early and woke Jamie. “It’s only 6:30 am,” he groaned. “I know, we need to talk though,” I reply turning and exiting the room so he can get dressed. I heard him getting dressed and digging through his room for his school supplies. I waited in the foyer of the house. I knew that despite their feeling and treatment of him, Jamie might still want his parents at his graduation but I didn’t know if I and Joel would feel safe going then, I didn’t even know if he really wanted anyone to go to it, or if he just wanted to walk the stage by himself and get it done and over with like Joel.
