CHAPTER 17 Maggie emerged from the bathroom, wiping her mouth. Brandon extended a cup of water and two aspirin. “How are you doing now?” he asked, one eyebrow stuck in an expression of ongoing disapproval. “I feel like hell,” she croaked. “You deserve it,” he replied bluntly. “You know better than to drink to excess. What on earth possessed you?” Her eyes skated away from his, and then she groaned and laid a hand on her forehead. “Skip it, okay, Dad?” she asked. “I don’t think so. You know, I was worried about you. Alcohol poisoning can be deadly. I’m glad to hear you talking more or less normally.
