CHAPTER 20 The next morning, Brandon's parents picked him up early and took him to their house, so he could get ready and leave Selene in peace. Twenty minutes later, Maggie, Karen, Amy and Cherie arrived. They helped Selene into her dress and then Cherie twisted Selene's white-gold mane into a complicated braid down the back. She threaded with long-stemmed orange and gold mums. Selene walked over to the mirror to put on her makeup. “Wow, this looks great. Thanks.” In the reflection, Cherie beamed. “Who knew a semester of high school cosmetology could come in so handy to a future lawyer?” Selene giggled.
