By midafternoon, exhaustion set in. Selene's aunt took one look at her pale face and drove them all home, where Selene napped for a couple of hours. Waking alone again made her feel cross and grumpy. I need Brandon. It was foolish to run off. He wouldn't arrive for another hour or so, and Selene, not fit for human company, sequestered herself in the den, brainlessly flipping the television channels without really taking anything in.
