Chapter Six ‘I hope you like it,’ Adam said. His heavy boots made hollow thuds on the wood verandah of the hut when he moved to make room for her. Next to him was a tartan blanket spread on the boards and topped with containers of food. In the middle of the blanket was a bunch of the little yellow flowers that she’d photographed on the surrounding bushes. He’d thought to pick them and put them here. This was another example of inconsistency. His tough exterior, bikie persona so at odds with a man who thought to pick wild flowers. He wasn’t the same man she saw yesterday talking to those bikies.
