"Your majesty, Amelia is also your daugther." My mother said with tears on her face. She was breathing heavily as if oxygen was barely going into her lungs. "I don't have much time in this world. Please take care of her, I beg of you." Her voice broke and it sounded like a sob.

"Mother." I choked out. A wave of grief overcame me, but I had to stay strong for her. For my family. And for myself. I couldn't break down here. Not now. This wasn't the place for crying. It wouldn't help anyone.Especially not the one person who had always been so patient with me. Who always listened when I needed advice. "Don't worry about me. Go be happy with father.

"Mother no... Please don't leave me." I cried so much at her bedside.

Chapter 1
My name is Amelia. I am the illegitimate child of king Donald. My mother die when i was a young child, and my father took me to live with him. I've three step siblings two step sisters and a step brother. My step mother hates me. She thinks I should have died on my birth bed because no one can love me. Her husband my father hates me as well. My mother was a maid in the palace. My father the king, was infatuated with her beauty. She had platinum blonde hair and silver eyes. All her features I have inherited. The queen kicked my mother out of the palace after knowing the relationship she had with my father and told her not to return. Few months after my mother found out she was pregnant with me. She took care of me and brought me up well all by herself. We had a simple, poor but happy life. She took care of me and brought me up well all by herself. We had a simple, poor but happy life. I loved her with all my heart because she was everything to me. My first real love, the woman who would change my entire world for the better, even though I was still only five years old. One day my mother got sick and everything changed. My mother was bedridden and her life was draining away in front of my eyes. I was just five years old, still a young child. When she fell into this state, she looked like an older version of herself. She always kept her hair long, even after chemotherapy, which seemed to make everything else look like a disaster waiting to happen. That was when he arrived, my father the king. My mother begged my father to take me in as his child because she was dying of sickenessand because it would give her the chance to see her daughter again. The only other option was to take me in as a slave, but no one dared to suggest anything less than an adoption with her condition. My father was reluctant to accept my presence at first, for I didn' t know him as well. I still remember her words. ** "Your majesty, Amelia is also your daugther." My mother said with tears on her face. She was breathing heavily as if oxygen was barely going into her lungs. "I don't have much time in this world. Please take care of her, I beg of you." Her voice broke and it sounds of grief overcame me, but I had to stay strong for her. "You have to get up. You have to live." The tears continued to come as if they would never stop until my eyes were dry and there was nothing left but pain and sorrow. ** Because this was my mother's last wish my father obliged. I saw my mother's last breath and my world shattered into pieces after. That day my father took me in the palace as his 'adoptive' daughter. He made sure I never heard her name again. That morning we had a meeting with the Emperor and his advisors, who were trying to decide whether to send me away or keep me here. We were living in the same room but the space between us felt endless. The walls and floors became a mirror reflecting back to the life I lived in front of him. My mother's voice became a distant memory haunting my dreams, her laughter a bitter reminder that she was no longer here with me. Arriving in the palace I learned that I had two older sisters. Charlotte, who is two years older and Chole, who is a year older than me. I also have a younger brother Benjamin , who is two years younger than me. My life in the palace wasn't easy. My two elder sisters loves to bully me, my stepmother the queen does everything to make my life hard. Also my father the king is indifferent towards me. I'm the princess. All I ever wanted was for them to love me, to let me be my own person and not have to live on the whim of a cruel, heartless b***h that would do anything to see me suffer. The only ones that are good to me were my younger brother Benjamin, who is always by my side playing with me and general Sammy, my step-siblings' grandfather and the father of my stepmother the queen.. The others aren't as good to me, they don't seem to like me very much. They all think I'm a bit odd because I'm an illegitimate child. Nine years have passed by and living in the palace as a third princess was not easy. The people of the kingdom of Xylem doesn't know much about me. I wasn't able to attend parties and balls with my siblings. I was the forgotten princess of Xylem. No one remembered me but everyone treated me like an alien. That's when I realized that even if I'm royalty, there is no place for me here. When my 14th birthday arrived, everything changed. It was custom that a daughter from the royal family needs to be presented to the public, hence a grand ball is held in the palace. All the high class families of the kingdom of Xylem are invited for the reason, to search for suitable suitors for the royal daughter. Even royalty from neighboring countries are invited to attend. General Sammy has fought with my father and stepmother to give me the royal custom given to daughters of the royal family, he said it was my birth right. Even though grandpa Sammy isn't my flesh and blood he has loved me as his own granddaughter. After some nagging and fights, my father agreed at last. And the day of the grand ball has arrived. I was dressed with a beautiful royal blue gown that accented my platinum blonde hair and silver eyes. This was the first time I have worn a beautiful dress. For once, it seemed fitting on me, as if I had been born for this event, to be here with all these gorgeous people wearing dresses like mine. It was the first time I've actually been in public since I came to the palace. Looking at the mirror I was so much different from my usual self. The usual me wore the hand-me-downs of my sister. They give me dresses that are out of date and were faded. I don't wear make up and my hair is always tied in a bun or a ponytail. I can't out shine my sisters in beauty, I have to always look normal compared to them. But now I look so beautiful. My hair was styled with beautiful hair ornaments. I am wearing make up and jewels. It was though I am looking at a stranger and not myself. I felt like I was a princess on her wedding day who was in some sort of show with a fake smile plastered on my face 'Knock knock' there was a knock on the door. The door opened and a maid entered and bowed in front of me. "Your highness, all the guest have arrived. His majesty the king has called for you." The maid said. "I understand. I will be there shortly." I said to her. I look at the young lady in the mirror once again and take a deep breath. I lifted my skirt and exited the door.
