Phoenix POV
Long black hair always tied up in a pony tail, does she ever put it down? Mate Jet, my Lycan says. It cant be true. It can’t be a human, I don’t sense she has a wolf. Thinking to myself while watching her leisurely walk into her shift at the local coffee shop Morning Rise. She is not our Mate, Jet. I’m not sure what it is about her yet. Mate. Ugh he is so annoying.I’ve been silently watching her for weeks now, I’m still not sure why I do. Ever since She died, I’ve wanted nothing to do with women.
These women are filled with pathetic attempts, throwing themselves at me every damn chance they can. But here I am like a freakin creep watching her go into work every morning. Shoot I’m not even supposed to be here every morning, I have packs to maintain. It’s a coincidence that both her and I get to work at the same time every morning. My building is across the street, a high rise hard to miss.
I kind of grew up in this building, Sterling CO, a company passed down from my Grandfather, which will eventually be passed down to me, the eldest son. Its the business we keep and maintain in the human town to keep up our normal image. Aside from the fact we are much larger than the typical wolf, let alone a small human. My father is always traveling, god knows where, leaving me and my brother to hold down the fort. Its a pain in the ass. For 6 years I ran our second location in Europe, happily to get away from here, the place that wreaks of memories I would rather forget. Until I produced a hobby, watching a dark haired little dove. Little Dove, that is what she is, a small dainty dove.
12PM Alison, my secretary, also one of my fellow Lycans, barges in my office door wearing a short and tight high-rise grey skirt with a white dress shirt tucked in. The top of the skirt is situated tightly under her big voluptuous breasts, while the shirt has 4 buttons undone revealing her white lace bra .Yes, she is beautiful with her long blonde hair, but not my cup of tea.“Mr. Sterling” she purrs, “Your client Mr. Crawford has sent over the paperwork you need to review and sign” she says as she leans over my desk and slides the folder over to me. “Thank you Alison. I’ll have this reviewed and signed before I leave for lunch” I said coldly back. “I was thinking, maybe you and I can enjoy some dessert together when you get back” Allison says with lust laced in each word.
She playfully unbuttons another on her blouse and sits on my desk in front of me. Maybe you should just go for it, its been sooo long, Jet whines in my head . No she’s too easy Jet, I don’t want that for us anymore. I silently argue back to him. “OUT” I said coldly to her without even a glance her way. She got up, buttoned up her blouse and stomped towards the office door like a toddler throwing a tantrum, before slamming the door she turned around and said “What if we just..” I sharply cut her off “Out!” And the door slams shut.
By 12:45, I decided to head out, maybe grab some coffee. Oh Yes! Coffee is a great idea! I step out of the office and lock the door behind me, as I get in the elevator I see Alison rushing to catch up, but before she can speak I hand her the folder of signed and reviewed papers, and press the ground floor button to close the doors. She stands there staring at me with pathetic pouting lips as the elevator doors close. Does this woman really get what she wants by acting clingy and pathetic. You already know she does. Shut up Jet.I have to admit, her and I did have a thing 6 years ago, before I left for our Europe division. The s*x was great, but that’s all it was. No feeling, no emotion, no love, just s*x. But I don’t want love, or anyone, it’s just a waste of time, keeping me from my work and concentration.
I head down 48 floors to ground, and head out of the building. Walk or drive... it’s a beautiful day out, I’ll walk. It isn’t far. 10 minutes later I get to Morning Rise, I see her through the open shop doors cleaning the counters. Little Dove, I watch as her long black ponytail sways back and forth with each wipe. I stop and admire for a moment. s**t, what is wrong with me. Seconds later as I am walking into the shop I get a text rom my father.
Dad: Did you talk to Alex Sampson about the offer in Colorado?
Phoenix: Not yet, I have a meeting with him over dinner at Vision tonight at 6.
Dad: That’s my boy. Get it lower and make him cave and bring your brother. He needs to see how business is done
Phoenix: Got it
Dad: and Phoenix, don’t disappoint me
I put the phone away when I hear Little Dove clear her throat which put my already cold mood, thanks to that text, a bit colder. Looking at her with null eyes I could see the way she trembled at my glare. Her breathing became heavier and I could hear her heartrate pick up. She looked nervous and it was so damn cute. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to disrupt you, please let me know when you are ready to order” she says in a tone that sounds like fear of disappointing. She starts to clean the counters again and I blurt out
“Coffee, black, large” dammit why do I have to sound like such a jerk.
She sets up the register and goes to prepare the coffee. As I am paying I cant seem to take my eyes off of her. What is it about her? I cant figure her out. She hands me the coffee and receipt and says “Thank you and have a great day!” With a beautiful smile that doesn’t quite reach her eyes, which leads me to believe it’s forced. I nod and leave the store but look back at her through the window noticing she is still watching. I’ll be seeing you again, Little Dove.
