## Episode 1: The Map That Whispered
Evan had always believed that old things remembered more than people did.
An old clock remembered every hour it had ever counted. An old house remembered every family that had lived inside it. An old book remembered every pair of hands that had turned its pages.
And old maps?
Old maps remembered places.
Places that might no longer exist.
Places that people had forgotten.
Places that perhaps were never supposed to be found.
That was why Evan loved maps.
He could spend hours studying them, tracing rivers with his finger, following mountain ranges, searching for tiny villages hidden between forests, and imagining what might be waiting beyond the edges of the paper.
His grandfather knew this.
"You have your father's curiosity," Grandpa often told him.
"Is that good?"
"Usually."
"Usually?"
Grandpa would laugh.
"Curiosity can open wonderful doors, Evan. But sometimes it opens doors that should have remained closed."
Evan never understood what he meant.
Until the night he found the map.
It was raining heavily outside.
Rain struck the windows of the old family house while thunder rolled across the sky. Evan had been asked to help clean the attic before his grandparents moved some old furniture downstairs.
He wasn't particularly interested in cleaning.
But the attic was different.
The attic was an adventure.
Dusty trunks sat beneath the wooden beams. Old paintings leaned against the walls. Broken lamps, forgotten toys, yellowed newspapers, and mysterious boxes were scattered everywhere.
Evan was searching through a cupboard when he noticed something behind a stack of books.
A small wooden chest.
It was covered in dust.
The lock was rusty, but strangely, it wasn't closed.
Evan pulled it toward him.
The chest creaked.
Inside were old letters, photographs, a silver pocket watch, and several rolled-up pieces of parchment.
Evan carefully removed the parchment.
Most were ordinary maps.
One showed the village.
Another showed the surrounding countryside.
A third showed mountains far away.
But the final map was different.
It was tied with a thin golden thread.
Evan's heart began beating faster.
He untied it.
The parchment slowly rolled open.
He stared.
There was a forest.
A river.
A mountain range.
And, at the center of the map, a magnificent castle.
The castle had seven tall towers.
Each tower was decorated with a tiny star.
A golden road led from the edge of the map toward the castle.
But there was no name.
No kingdom.
No village.
Nothing.
Evan leaned closer.
"Where are you?"
The moment he spoke, something strange happened.
One of the stars on the castle began glowing.
Evan froze.
The light grew brighter.
Then another star appeared.
Then another.
Soon, every tower on the castle was shining.
Evan stepped backward.
"This isn't possible."
The stars began moving.
They traveled across the parchment like tiny fireflies.
One moved down the mountain.
Another followed the river.
Then a golden line appeared.
It started at the castle and traveled through the forest.
The line continued toward the edge of the map.
Then stopped.
Evan stared.
A whisper floated through the attic.
"Eldoria..."
He turned around.
Nobody was there.
His heart pounded.
"Hello?"
Nothing.
The rain continued tapping against the windows.
"Eldoria..."
This time, the whisper was closer.
Evan grabbed the map.
"Who are you?"
The attic became silent.
Then a cold breeze swept through the room.
The candle beside him went out.
Evan swallowed.
A shadow moved across the wall.
He spun around.
Nothing.
He was about to run downstairs when words appeared on the map.
Not written in ink.
They appeared as glowing golden letters.
**ELDORIA NEEDS YOU.**
Evan stared at the message.
Then the attic door opened.
"Evan?"
He nearly screamed.
His best friend, Liora, stood in the doorway.
She was holding an umbrella.
"What are you doing up here?" she asked.
Evan pointed at the map.
"You have to see this."
Liora walked closer.
"What is it?"
"I don't know."
"Where did you find it?"
"In that chest."
She looked at the parchment.
At first, she said nothing.
Then her expression changed.
"Evan..."
"What?"
"Look."
The castle was moving.
Not physically.
The drawing itself was changing.
A tiny golden light appeared above the tallest tower.
It rose from the parchment and floated into the air.
Liora stepped backward.
"Did you see that?"
"Yes."
The light floated between them.
It formed the shape of a tiny star.
Then it disappeared.
Liora stared at Evan.
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"We're going."
Evan blinked.
"Going where?"
She pointed at the map.
"Wherever this is."
"Eldoria?"
Liora nodded.
"You heard the voice too, didn't you?"
Evan looked toward the attic window.
"I did."
"Then we need to find it."
Liora placed her hand on the map.
Immediately, the parchment became warm.
A bright golden path appeared.
It began at their village.
It traveled through the forest.
Then toward the mountains.
And finally to the castle.
At the bottom of the map, another message appeared.
**FOLLOW THE WHISPER.**
Liora whispered,
"That's not creepy at all."
Evan laughed nervously.
"We could just put the map back."
"We could."
"And pretend none of this happened."
"We could."
They looked at each other.
Neither moved.
Finally, Evan smiled.
"When do we leave?"
Liora smiled back.
"Now."
They packed quickly.
A small backpack.
Two bottles of water.
Some bread.
A flashlight.
A blanket.
And the magical map.
They slipped quietly out of the house.
The rain had stopped.
The moon appeared between the clouds.
Everything seemed normal.
Too normal.
Evan looked toward the forest.
"Do you really think there's a kingdom out there?"
"I don't know."
"Do you think the map is real?"
"I don't know."
"Do you think the voice is friendly?"
Liora looked at him.
"I definitely don't know that."
They walked toward the trees.
The moment they reached the forest entrance, the map began glowing.
A golden line appeared on the ground.
Evan looked down.
"Well..."
Liora nodded.
"Let's follow it."
They stepped into the forest.
Behind them, the village lights slowly disappeared.
The trees became taller.
The path became narrower.
Moonlight slipped between the branches.
For the first few minutes, they said nothing.
Then Evan heard something.
"Did you hear that?"
Liora stopped.
"Hear what?"
A branch cracked somewhere behind them.
They turned.
Nothing.
"Probably an animal," Liora said.
They continued.
Another c***k.
This time, closer.
Evan turned again.
Still nothing.
Then a soft rustling came from the bushes.
Liora raised her flashlight.
The leaves moved.
Something was hiding there.
"Hello?" she called.
The bushes became still.
Evan whispered,
"Maybe we should keep walking."
Suddenly, something small jumped out.
Evan shouted.
Liora screamed.
The creature landed on the ground.
It was tiny.
It had bright blue fur, enormous ears, a fluffy tail, and two glowing eyes.
It stared at them.
They stared back.
Then it sneezed.
"Achoo!"
A tiny spark flew from its nose.
Evan laughed.
Liora covered her mouth.
The creature looked offended.
"Sorry," Evan said.
It walked toward him.
Then climbed onto his shoe.
Evan crouched down.
"Are you lost?"
The creature squeaked.
Liora smiled.
"I think it likes you."
The creature suddenly looked toward the trees.
Its ears went flat.
It began trembling.
"What is it doing?" Evan asked.
The forest became silent.
The creature climbed onto Evan's shoulder.
Then came a sound.
A low, distant growl.
Liora switched off the flashlight.
"What was that?"
Evan didn't answer.
The golden path on the ground suddenly disappeared.
The map in his hand became cold.
Then a black mark appeared across its surface.
The mark moved.
Slowly.
It traveled from the mountains toward their location.
Liora stared.
"That isn't part of the map."
Evan shook his head.
"No."
The mark continued moving.
Closer.
Closer.
Then the creature on Evan's shoulder began making a strange frightened sound.
The trees ahead turned dark.
Not because the moon disappeared.
Something was blocking the light.
A mist began crawling between the trees.
It moved against the wind.
Evan took a step backward.
"What is that?"
Liora grabbed his arm.
"I don't know."
The mist grew thicker.
A shape appeared inside it.
Tall.
Thin.
Almost human.
Two pale eyes opened.
Evan couldn't breathe.
The figure stepped forward.
The creature on his shoulder trembled violently.
Then the figure spoke.
Its voice was barely louder than a whisper.
"Evan..."
Evan's blood ran cold.
Liora stared at him.
"It knows your name."
The figure took another step.
"Liora..."
The children backed away.
The mysterious creature's eyes glowed brighter.
Then it said something that made Evan's stomach twist.
"You should never have found the map."
The magical parchment suddenly burst into golden light.
The forest disappeared behind the brightness.
The shadow screamed.
Evan shielded his eyes.
When the light faded, the figure was gone.
The forest was silent again.
Liora slowly lowered her arm.
"Is it gone?"
Evan looked around.
"I think so."
The little blue creature jumped from his shoulder and stared into the darkness.
Then it made a soft squeak.
Evan picked it up.
"You saved us."
The creature looked at him.
Liora smiled.
"We should give it a name."
Evan thought for a moment.
"Spark."
The creature's tail wagged.
"Spark it is."
Suddenly, the map began glowing again.
Evan unfolded it.
The golden path had returned.
But it was different now.
It no longer led simply toward the castle.
It led somewhere else first.
A small symbol had appeared deep inside the forest.
A silver feather.
Liora frowned.
"That wasn't there before."
Evan looked at the trees.
"What do you think it means?"
Before Liora could answer, a whisper drifted through the forest.
This time it sounded different.
It sounded frightened.
**"Find the feather before the shadow does."**
Evan's eyes widened.
"The shadow is coming back."
Liora looked deeper into the forest.
Somewhere far ahead, a faint silver light flickered between the trees.
Spark suddenly growled.
Evan tightened his grip on the map.
The three friends stepped forward.
Behind them, the forest became dark.
Ahead, the silver light disappeared.
And somewhere in the distance...
something began following them.
**To be continued...**
