Chapter 13: Second ChancesHE AWOKE IN A SEA OF LIGHT, bright to the point where his eyes instinctively closed to shield themselves. Reaching up to touch his face, Cole felt something tug at his left hand. It stung for a second until he lowered it back down and wiped at his forehead with his right hand. His head no longer hurt like before, but he could tell his body was weak. The sound of rushing water and weightlessness startled him, and he squinted with one eye to take in his surroundings. He was still unable to focus, but the room he was in brought back a foggy memory.
