“Can you call these guys off?” asked Cole.
“Why?”
Cole was now unsure of exactly how to proceed. Juan was smart enough to know that Cole was likely up to more than he admitted to. But he couldn’t and wouldn’t trust Juan with any information.
“What if I can take care of them?”
Juan asked, “Who?”
Cole, frustrated, raised his voice. “The f*****g terrorists you’re hiding, Juan. Who the f**k else would I be talking about?”
“So the U.S. wants to come to Mexico and kill people on our soil?”
Cole fired back, “Oh, because all of a sudden, you give a s**t about border integrity?”
“Let’s calm down a bit.” As he spoke, Juan reached down to the cooler and pulled two beers from the ice. Cole, at the same time, switched the grenade to his left hand, reached behind his back and drew the revolver.
