Peter gave Anna a quick nod as he opened the door for her, but she stepped in alone. She made her way further into the room, eyes searching for any movement, any human presence. Shivers ran down her spine as she inspected the shadows for Damien. The feeling of victory she felt as William had finally opened up about what he was doing, although he gave her almost nothing, had transformed into a gnawing uneasiness that had no logical source. She had just reached the table in the middle of the room when the sound of clapping made her jump.
