Tristan was annoyed by his brother. He always hated it when he butted in his affairs. Why couldn't he just leave him alone? For the past thousand years, he has been tormenting him to no extent.
"I asked you a question brother! Tell me what she is?"
"Isn't that obvious to you, Tommy?! She is a girl—"
Thomas felt his temper rising. He had one hand inside his pocket and he was pinching himself to not fight with his brother today. After that, Tristan turned his back to Thomas and poured even more whiskey into his glass. Even though Thomas tried to control his temper he couldn't. His brother's ill manners were driving him crazy. When Tristan was about to sip his drink, Thomas yanked the drink from his hand so that the glass fell on the floor and broke into pieces. "If I ask you a question, you will give me a proper answer," he roared at him.
Suddenly, the temperature in the room rose to a greater extent even though the room's thermostat was at nineteen degrees Celsius. Then both the brothers were at each other's throats. Tristan was the first one to attack his brother. He pushed Thomas to the ground and he landed right on the shreds of the glasses. The thick jacket that he wore protected him from getting cut, still one of the sharp shreds of glass had torn up through his jacket and stabbed his back.
Now it was a war for Thomas! He then got up from the floor and took away the shred of glass that was stuck at his back. With the same glass shred, he tried to attack Tristan. He aimed to stab his neck with it. This wasn't the first time he was trying to kill his brother. He had tried to do it a lot of times before—but he didn't succeed.
Thomas was about to stab his neck, but Tristan was faster. He grabbed the shred and threw it far away from where they stood. "Did you actually try to kill me, Tommy?! I thought we were way past that stage of ripping each other—"
"What can I say, brother?! I really wanted to make peace with you. But you are not worthy of it, are you?!"
"Fine, Tommy! Let's finish it today. I say, bring it on—"
Just when the two brothers were about to charge at each other, a pretty girl with red hair appeared out of thin air and stood as a buffer in between them. Both the brothers froze when they saw the red-haired girl. She first glared at me Tristan and then at Thomas. "I expected this from him, but you," she shook her head. "I am very disappointed with you Tommy—"
"But he started it! He pushed me down first. You can't just keep on blaming me for his mistakes!"
"Shut up," she silenced him. "Now both of you boys sit down and tell me what happened!"
Thomas obeyed her and she sat down on the couch immediately. But Tristan didn't want to sit down and talk. He found talking like a lame thing. He liked action more than talking. But he can't disobey Athena. She was more powerful than the both of them combined. So he decided to sit down on the couch next to his brother.
Once the two boys were settled, Athena asked each of them to tell their version of the story. Each was given only five minutes to talk. Within that, they were supposed to say out everything. Tristan didn't like the way Athena treated them like children. Yet, he was quiet. She was one of the people whom Tristan listened to.
After Athena heard both the sides of their story, she fixed her alluring blue eyes at Tristan and said, "Are you in love with her?!"
"Yes, I am."
"Then why did you buy her for money instead of trying to pursue her as a normal man would do?"
Tristan furrowed his brow so deep as if showing out the displeasure he felt. "Athena, you out of all the people know what happens to the woman who becomes my mate. Or did the time make you forget it?!"
Athena fell silent as she felt guilty for even asking him such a question. She didn't mean to hurt him by digging up his past wounds. Even Thomas wasn't angry with his brother anymore. He saw his brother with eyes full of pity. Tristan wasn't able to bear their pitiful gazes. So he got up from the couch and moved over to the table where his whiskey was placed.
"Is that why you are keeping her here?" Athena asked him while Tristan took another glass and poured whiskey in it. "You have imprisoned her here so that you can protect her from your rivals?!"
"Yes, what other choice do I have?!" Tristan said before gulping down the glass full of whiskey down his throat in one go. He poured another glass immediately after that just to gulp down the sorrow he was feeling deep down. But the drinks weren't enough to fill the void in him.
After that, Thomas and Athena decided to leave him alone. Once they both were out of the room, Athena gave a questioning look to Thomas. "Why is this happening to him after so many years?"
Thomas didn't know the answer for that either. His brother had been a player for the past century. He protected his heart more than his damn life. Now he gave up his heart for a random girl? He shook his head at the thought. "The girl is not a human! I can say that for sure—"
"Then what is she?!"
"I don't know! How about we go to her room and check on her?!"
Athena sighed and went to the room that was next to Tristan's room. As soon as they opened the door, they both were shocked. There was no one in the room. Where has the girl gone?!
