01- How they met
Linda Perez's PoV
I slowly walked through our neighbor's house, getting all their clothes that my mother need to wash. My mother's work is washing the clothes of our neighbors, sometimes she don't have clothes to wash.
"Here, Linda. Bring it back to me in the afternoon. Okay?" I smiled and nodded. As I walk out to their door, I heavily breathed. I never imagined that life will cause so much trouble for people. I was like a paper who flew in the air, just going with the flow of life.
Why does life seems to be hard to live with?
I looked at the ground while walking towards our home, where my mother usually wash the clothes. I always thought of having a second life... Or someone who will replace my life, just like what I've been reading from the pocketbooks. Even though those books are just borrowed from the library, books gave a very big role in my life, most especially in my imaginations. It makes my imaginations grew bigger and bigger.
I love my mother so much and I'm willing to do everything for her. She's the only one I have right now, I don't know what will happen to me if I lost her. My father left us without saying a thing, that's why I hated him that him that much. He once said that he'll comeback, but he never did.
"H-Hey! Look at where you're going!!!" Ouch, my head hurts. The clothes that I'm bringing suddenly fall to the ground. I bumped to a guy who's wearing a long black hood.
"I'm sorry, Sir. I didn't know that-" He held my arms and tried to hide under me. I confusingly look at him. What the heck is he doing? Who's he hiding from?
I saw some soldiers suddenly ran towards the people, trying to find something.
Is he running away from the soldiers? Is he a thief?
I tried to look at him but he is holding my shoulders so tight that I can't even move comfortably.
"Are you running away from the soldiers?" I asked while I'm looking in front.
"Yes, so just look in front. Try to hide me, I'll explain everything to you later, just please let me do this." I breathed heavily. For sure, my mother's waiting for me. I saw the soldiers going away, maybe heading back to the palace.
"They're now gone." I said to him, he immediately let my shoulders go.
"Thank you so much, miss. I owe you a lot." He said and bowed at me. I embarassingly look around and held his hand.
"D-Don't do that please... By the way, are you a thief?" I get all of the clothes that fell into the ground and he suddenly held my hand and run with me.
What the hell is wrong with this guy? Is he a crazy stupid dude or what?
We hid against the walls and he removed his hoodie. I looked at his face and got shocked.
The guy who's wearing a long-black hoodie and running away from the soldiers...
Is the prince?!
I bowed at him and got embarassed for suspecting him as a thief.
"I-I'm sorry... I didn't know, Prince Jefferson." I closed my eyes while bowing my head to him.
"You don't have to feel sorry. I should be the one to ask for an apology for ruining and taking your time." He held my hand and let me stop bowing my head. It's an honor for a slave like me to meet personally the prince.
His eyes are in a blue color, his skin is as white as clouds in the sky, his brown hair looks so soft to touch. I can also see his jawline. He's also tall.
I can say that he's already a perfect man... a perfect prince.
"Its an honor for me to meet you closely, our Prince. You don't know how much joy you brought to us. I'm Linda, Linda Perez." For a slave like us, someone in royal blood meeting the slaves downtown? It was imposibble not until I got this chance.
"I tried to escape from the palace but the soldiers keep on chasing me. Tsk, I knew that the King ordered them to find me... You know, Linda? I want to live a life like what normal teenagers do, but my father won't let me. It's so hard to be a prince, all I did was to obey them and let myself live a life that I never wished. If only I could choose my own parents..." I sat beside him. The Prince's crying... What should I do?
"Y-You know, y-you can ask a help to your mother. A mother will always understand their child. A-And, we have the rights to live on our own." I didn't know a royal person like him do experience this kind of hardness.
"I-I gotta go now. My mother's waiting for me." I said and fastly ran away from him. I hope that my mother won't be mad at me.
As I ran with the clothes, suddenly came up to my mind. That is, I already met the Prince. A Prince who has a heart for a slave like me, changed my perspective in life. We are all experiencing different kinds of pain. A pain that we also didn't expect.
Though life's sometimes unfair for us, I also thought that all of us have are own pain and tragedies in life, that only a few people knew.
The Prince wanted to live a life like me but I wanted to live a life like him. What a great play of destiny... Making people think differently about someone else's life?
In this cruel world, we're sometimes getting played by the waves of destiny, and that s**t sucks. I even don't want for me and my mother to just stay as what we are today.
But what makes me even more stronger is the willingness and the hope that me and my mother will be out of this hell. A hell that we'll once leave and never comeback. This town serves as an living hell in our lives.
This day also serves as one of my luckiest days in life... Because I already got a chance to meet him personally... That's how we met...
