I should have known it wouldn’t stop.
Lyra. Her presence lingered like poison, every step calculated, every movement a threat.
The moment I stepped into the science lab, I felt it—a chill, unnatural, prickling my skin. Something was wrong. My wolf growled, muscles coiling, claws itching under my skin.
“Kael…” I whispered, heart hammering.
He was already there, leaning against the doorway, silver-blue eyes blazing, aura radiating danger. “It’s a trap,” he muttered. “Stay close.”
I nodded, wolf surging violently, pressing to him instinctively. My pulse raced, chest tight. The bond reacted immediately—red streaks flaring along my collarbone, hot and alive.
Before I could react, Lyra emerged from the shadows, eyes silver, fangs flashing, a dangerous smirk curling her lips.
“Elara Vale,” she hissed. “You think you can claim him? You’ll regret it.”
Kael stepped in front of me, his hand brushing my waist possessively. “Back off,” he growled, low and deadly.
Lyra laughed, a sound sharp and venomous. Then she snapped her fingers.
The lights flickered, then went out completely. The darkness pressed in, heavy and suffocating. My wolf surged in panic, claws itching, body pressing to Kael instinctively.
“I’ve got you,” he murmured, voice brushing my ear, lips dangerously close. His hands moved to my shoulders, grounding me, tethering me. The heat radiating off him was unbearable. My wolf reacted violently, pressing, whining.
The bond flared, streaks of red along my skin, marking me stronger than before. Desire, hunger, tension—it all roared through me, primal, urgent. My chest heaved, body trembling.
Lyra lunged from the shadows, fangs bared. Kael’s eyes flared silver-blue as he shifted partially, claws scraping the floor, aura radiating raw alpha power. “Stay behind me!” he growled.
I instinctively leaned into him, wolf pressing hard, senses on fire. My body reacted to his, hips brushing, breath hitching. Heat coiled low and deep, tension spiraling out of control.
Kael intercepted Lyra mid-lunge, claws flashing, fangs bared. The fight was feral, raw, primal. I pressed closer to him, wolf writhing inside me, desperate, urgent.
He glanced down at me, voice rough, husky. “Control it… but let it fuel you.”
I shivered, heat spiraling, wolf pressing, body trembling. The bond screamed, red streaks flaring, marking me as his in front of danger. Desire, hunger, and need coiled inside me, nearly overwhelming.
Lyra hissed, retreating as Kael cornered her, eyes blazing, fangs flashing. “This isn’t over,” she spat.
Kael turned to me, pressing me to his chest. “Are you hurt?”
I shook my head, body trembling, wolf whining softly. “No… I—just…” My chest heaved, heat coiling, pulse racing.
“You’re mine, Elara,” he murmured, lips brushing my temple. “Every mark, every pulse, every surge… all of you belongs to me.”
My wolf howled silently, pressing into him, ecstatic, desperate. My body pressed closer without thought. Desire, tension, and need coursed through me, marking me as his—physically and emotionally.
Even in the chaos, even with danger around us, I realized fully:
No one can take him from me.
And my wolf… agrees.
CHAPTER FIFTEEN — Secrets and Control
The forest behind Kael’s cabin had always seemed ordinary.
Until today.
He led me deeper, to a hidden clearing shielded by thick trees. The sunlight barely broke through the canopy, casting dancing shadows across the ground. The air hummed with raw energy—Kael’s power, my wolf, the bond between us.
“Here,” he said, voice low and commanding, eyes blazing silver-blue. “This is where you learn control… and obedience.”
I swallowed hard, wolf growling, muscles coiling. Every instinct screamed, every nerve ending alive. The bond pulsed along my collarbone, streaks of red flaring faintly—marks left by him, alive, claiming me.
“Your wolf is strong, Elara,” he said, circling me slowly, predatorily. “It reacts to danger, to desire… to me. If you can control it, you’ll survive. If not…” His eyes darkened. “…it can consume you.”
My chest tightened. Heat rolled low and deep, body trembling. My wolf pressed against him instinctively, whining, desperate.
“How?” I whispered, voice shaking.
Kael stepped closer, hand brushing mine in a teasing, deliberate way. “Feel it. Listen. Your wolf responds to me… but it obeys you. Not yet… but it will.”
The moment his fingers touched mine, my wolf surged violently. Every nerve alight. Heat coiled, chest heaving, pulse racing. I shivered, hips pressing slightly toward him instinctively.
“Good,” he murmured, thumb brushing my palm, teasing. “Now, let’s see if you can focus while it’s hungry… while it’s awake… while I’m here.”
My breath hitched, wolf pressing, muscles coiling. Desire, tension, and hunger coiled through me, every instinct screaming.
Kael leaned closer, lips brushing my jaw, voice husky and low. “Do you feel it? The bond? Your wolf reacting to me?”
“Yes…” I whispered, shivering. My body leaned into him. Heat surged, chest tight, pulse racing. My wolf pressed even harder, desperate, needy.
He groaned low, hands trailing over my waist, possessive and teasing. “Good. That’s what it feels like… to be mine, and to know it.”
I trembled, breath hitching. My wolf whined, pressed fully against him, coiling with desire. Red streaks flared along my collarbone, warm and alive—physical proof of the bond, of his claim, of the hunger building between us.
Kael’s lips brushed my temple, lingering. “Control,” he whispered. “But don’t fight the fire… let it guide you. Let it consume you… eventually.”
I shivered violently, wolf pressing, body trembling. My chest heaved, pulse racing, heat spiraling. Every nerve alive, every instinct drawn to him.
Even as he taught control, even as we trained, every touch, every glance, every flicker of the bond was a promise… a claim… a temptation I couldn’t resist.
And I realized fully:
No matter how much I try, no matter how hard I fight…
I am his.
My wolf agrees.
