I woke up the next morning and got ready for class. I tried to wake Morgan up so we could leave together; however, she has this crazy rule that forbids me from waking her up more than two times, and when I try too, she goes angry and her eyes turn red, like she's going to kill me.
"Sonia! My office,".
Mrs. Elena saw me going to class and then called me into her office.
I had no idea why she had asked me to come into her office, and literally, this is the first time I am being called into the principle's office.
"Ma'am! Good morning,"
I sat down after she offered me a chair.
"Good morning, Sonia, Where is Morgan? She looked at the door and hoped my roommate would magically walk right in with her all-matching outfit that went with the color of her eyes.
"Ma'am, Morgan will be in class later; I got there earlier than her," I told her, not giving any more information she should be inclined to get.
"Oh! That's good, because I want to talk with you. She looked at the door again before coming back to me.
"Talk? About what? Did anything happen? Did anything happen, ma'am? I pushed my chair closer to the table and gently placed my hand on it.
Yes, Sonia, but since you're in with the investigating committee, I need you to investigate something with the team," she asked me, and I paused to hear my response to her question.
"Wait! What do you want us to investigate, ma'am?"
I said and watched her move her eyes back and forth; it was like what she was about to tell me was much bigger than she was.
"Ma'am, say something! I snapped her out of her temporarily paralyzed state as she veered back at me and said,
"Sonia, some nights ago, the school Force field was taken down, and we all know it only does that when a new student is being accepted. She paused..
"Yes ma'am! So?" I asked again.
"So? When I got there, there was no one, and I feel something might have gotten into the school without our knowledge, and we ought to find out what that is before bad things begin to happen."
She deciphered to me with a worried expression on her face.
"Okay! So when do I go with the team? I sought permission.
"After your classes, but I need answers in one week; find out what is happening and get back to me immediately," she said, bringing out the gate pass key and giving it to me.
"This is the show of security; you're permitted to work after the curfew.
She insists I take the key.
I opened my hand, and she dropped the key on my hand.
"Don't worry, ma'am, I won't fail you," I said with all assurance that everything would be fine.
Okay! She nods and sends me off to class.
I carefully put the gate pass key inside my bag and then walked off to class. The professor must have come, and I might end up being reprimanded for coming to class late.
Eventually I got to class and went off to my chair. Today we have a combined class with the water, fire, air, and earth students, and anytime we have this kind of class, Mitchell, with her good skills in fire bending, will be ready to outshine everyone and make the other students, like myself, feel like they aren't doing anything in learning, as she has done.
"Morgan!!"
The professor was yet to come when I saw my roommate running in, like she was being chased by someone; eventually, it turned out she was because the professor came in a few minutes after she did.
She was definitely lucky not to have been caught for coming to a combined class like this one; literally, any class late is tradition, and those traits are not expected by us, who are the students.
Morgan came, and she sat down in the chair. I unkowingly kept her for her in the first place, although I did have it in mind she'd be coming to class. However, what I didn't know was that she'd meet the chair, which was not yet occupied by someone else.
Maybe Spencer James might have been the one to sit down next to me in class; if that's the case, his girlfriend, Mitchell, refused to come to class because she's the daughter of the freaking principal we adore but finds her daughter irritating and annoying.
"Do you have a spare pen?"
Morgan asked me after the professor had written the topic he was going to teach on the board.
"Yeah!" I opened my bag, and while I was busy looking for a pen for her, Morgan saw the gate pass and immediately stole it from my bag.
"Whoa! Don't tell me Mrs. Elena wants you to have something for her. She asked and then handed the key back to me.
"Yeah! She feels something has entered the school premises and wants the team to go check it out."
I finally found a pen and passed it to her.
"Okay!" She nods, listening to the teaching from one of the oldest professors in school, Mr. Lawrence. I've heard he goes to the human old and lives with his family over there after lecturing; it must really be stressful to him, but from what I've heard, Mr. Lawrence is earning more than a tooth in my mouth.
The academy freakishly pays him a little bit more than other professors in school.
"Can anyone tell me when they first found out about their powers?"
Mr. Lawrence walked down from the podium, stood, and approached a girl who was seated at the front desk.
I always love to sit in front, but thank God, I ain't sitting there right now, and besides, my first time wasn't as pleasant; I almost tore my parents house in two; the walls were about to rip apart. When mom gave me a tranquilizer that calmed me down, the tranquilizer helped, but not until I was taken by two huge men to the academy I find myself in right now.
