┊┊⋆┊┊ ☪︎ Ellise Point of View I walked and walked, and I let my feet take me to the lake that had a tree—my favorite place to go to whenever I felt sad. However, the place wasn't empty like it usually was. Next to the tree lay a person wearing a hat. I walked closer to him, but I soon realized that I shouldn't be bothering a stranger, people might make assumptions about me, especially since I was a female. I sat on the other side of the tree. The lake was peaceful and the fresh breeze softly blew my black-to-brown ombre hair. I was startled when I suddenly heard a voice, as if someone was having a nightmare. "Luna…" The shaky voice spoke. What he was saying was familiar since it was exactly the same as what the woman from my dreams had told me earlier. But what did this person have to do with her? I inched closer to him. I didn't know why, but I felt myself lay his head on my thigh. I didn't remove hat. Instead, I sung him the song entitled "Only Hope". It was a song that I usually sung to lull myself to sleep. The song had a beautiful meaning, and I sung each word from my heart. ─●──────── -2:56 "There's a sing that's inside of my soul It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again I'm awake in the infinite cold But you sing to me over and over and over again. So I lay my head back down And I lift my hands and pray To be only yours I pray To be only yours I know now you're my only hope Sing to me the song of the stars Of your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again When it feels like my dreams are so far Sing to me of the plans That you have for me over again" ✿ The song seemed to be effective since the boy was now silent and fast asleep. I took a nervous breath. I didn't even know who this person was. What if he was a psychopath who'd stab me in the chest. Well, that was highly unlikely. I didn't know why, but I had a good feeling about him. After a few seconds, I removed his hat and I was surprised when I finally saw his face. He looked directly into my eyes as if he could read my mind. He was the guy I bumped into earlier, the reason why I was late for class today. His eyes were a deep red shade. I thought I was just imagining things earlier, but maybe he did have foreign blood in him. I shifted my eyes to his forehead, but there wasn't a single trace of the mark I saw earlier. "I didn't know it was you… I'll just excuse myself…" I muttered as I stood up. He grabbed my hand and I fell out of balance. Our faces inched closer to one another. "Stay here. With me." He said. I shied away and stood up as if nothing happened so I could stop blushing. "Thank you." Was all he said, but my heart just wouldn't stop pounding. I ran home and checked my watch. It was late, and I hadn't informed anyone of my whereabouts. Upon entering the house, I saw Madam Emma waiting for me with an irritated expression on her face. I needed some sort of alibi so I wouldn't get scolded too harshly. "What time do you think it is, young lady? Do you think it's ok for a girl to come home that late?" she asked sternly. I immediately explained that our teacher asked for my help with something, which I why I arrived home late. If I had told her the truth—that I was late because I sang for a boy who was having a nightmare, she'd have been furious. "Well, go ahead and cook. Your sisters are starving." She rolled her eyes. I immediately went to my room and changed my clothes. I tied my long hair up into a ponytail so it wouldn't interfere with my cooking I headed downstairs to the kitchen and started cooking Sinigang. I peered outside and saw the stars twinkling in the sky. It was truly a beautiful sight. I went back to cooking and when I finished, I quickly set the table and served the food. I went to my room so I could finally rest. I closed my eyes for a moment to think. "Luna". That was all I heard in my mind. I didn't know why that name had anything to do with me, but it was the same name that the boy with the red eyes and the girl in my dream uttered. Maybe I was thinking too much. I wanted to go out, right then and there, and get some fresh air. I went out of my room and saw that everyone had left their plates and utensils on the table. They must have retired to their own rooms. I fixed the table and exited the house. I walked until I caught sight of a tree. I sat next to it and looked up at the sky. I felt relaxed. I didn't know why, but every night, I felt stronger. The moon always made me ecstatic. "The light from the stars gives me the will to live because it brings light to a dark world." I told myself. I closed my eyes for a moment and I suddenly heard the leaves rustle. "Who's there?" I asked. My heart pounded in fear. Hopefully there wasn't a murderer nearby, I didn't want to die. "Why are you still out? It's late." The voice sounded familiar. Slowly, a figure emerged from behind the tree. He was wearing a knitted sweater, which definitely suited him, but he had a band aid on his forehead, which is where I saw the sun-shaped mark. "I can't sleep… Why are you here? You're following me, aren't you?" I joked. He stared at me with a blank expression. He continued to gaze at the stars. Turns out I was staring at him. If one would really take a look at him, they'd see that he was a full package. He was undeniably handsome and his pale skin complimented his red eyes perfectly. "Mortals and immortals are from different worlds. Immortals like us shouldn't be living in this world." He said. This remark surprised me. What were we to be called immortals? Beasts? He was surprised to see me riddled with laughter. His eyes shifted towards me, so I stopped and fixed myself. He must have told me about something he read in a book. "Remember, don't fall in love with someone like me—someone with a sun-shaped mark on his forehead." He said as he slowly peeled off the band-aid from his forehead. I was shocked to see a sun-shaped mark imprinted on his forehead. Why wasn't it there when he was at the lake? "Cool, which tattoo parlor did you go to?" I asked. I heard the leaves rustle again and I found myself in the hands of a woman with a moon-shaped mark on her forehead. Wait, was she his girlfriend? "Woah, woah, woah, wait a second here. I'm not trying to steal your boyfriend." I said nervously, beads of sweat trickling down my forehead as I spoke. "Get away from us!" The woman yelled. What was happening? Was she asking the boy to go away because she was annoyed with him? "I don't have any ulterior motives towards her." The boy said monotonously. I was slightly annoyed even though I knew that it was true. I gasped when he suddenly through a knife in the direction of the woman who was holding me. "Hey, would you calm down? You might kill your girlfriend!" I squirmed out of the woman's grasp, but she tightened her grip, which made me go out of breath. My vision slowly blurred and I fainted right then and there.
