Chapter 7:

White light surrounded Lusie. Lusie looked around at the white trying to think of what happened. All she could remember was waking up from all the screaming. The horrible screams and then a loud crash. Lusie stopped walking as her brain went through her memory. She had stared into a guy's eyes and similar to the shock treatments her body had blacked out. "What happened?" She whispered her thoughts out loud. It was not possible to be shocked by eye contact. Was it? Had she died by looking into his eyes? Lusie was so obsessed with her thoughts to find a solution she did not notice that half of the white in the room changed to black. The air turned heavy as a shadow appeared walking towards her. Fear creeped her away from the thoughts she was having at last noticing the figure. Like a cloud the shadow drifted away revealing the figure to be the guy she met in the hall. Lusie frowned. Jason shielded his eyes with his right hand against the sudden bright white light ahead. After spending so long in the dark walking and pondering on what could have happened the light was not welcome. Yet the cloud around him lifted and he saw the blue eyed Lusie shivering surrounded by the light. He snorted. How very ironic and classic. "Good your both here now." A strange unfamiliar voice to both of them said out of thin area. "Great. Maybe I am going insane now." Lusie mumbled. The voice laughed. Jason could not tell if it was a female or male's voice but he did not feel threatened by it. He still tensed up. Lusie just sighed and Jason noticed she seemed like she gave up on it going away. Both covered their eyes as light blinded them. Slowly the light returned to normal however a man with blonde hair in all white with a halo stood between the two. Lusie gasped while Jason backed up a little more in the dark. The angel or whatever the hell he was still laughed. He wrapped his arms around his stomach. A while past and neither said anything until the angel calmed down. "Oh my." He whipped the tears from his eyes. "I have not laughed that long in a while." "What the hell is this?" Jason grumbled, getting annoyed. The angel sighed a little and turned his hazel eyes to Jason feeling much sympathy for the boy. Jason tensed up slightly more knowing that look only all too well. Lusie stepped back and cowered a little as she saw the dark clouds form another figure. This one however made her want to run the opposite way. When the clouds faded away only a man stood in its place. Red bright eyes shining in the dark with a terrifying cruel smile. He wore completely black. His hair was an auburn with horns poking through. "Now now Jason." The evil looking man growled in the back of his throat or his voice was just really deep. Jason's head snapped around to the demon who always clouded his thoughts. "You!" Jason's expression turned from annoyed to furious. Lusie was not sure what to say so she just stayed back with her hand together watching. The angel noticed how uncomfortable the girl seemed. He cleared his throat grabbing the others too attention before there was a battle in front of the girl. When the angel was satisfied he had everyone's attention he began. "Lusie. Jason. I'm sure you have noticed that when you looked at each other you fainted and woke up in this place." He held up a hand halting Jason from whatever he was going to interrupt the words with. "God has watched over both of you. One that has lived a normal life with people that have always loved her but grew apart from her when she had an ability they did not understand. The other a complete opposite from her. A life of struggle with nothing but pain in every moment of his life. No family members to show him love only pain to inflict." Lusie looked over at Jason. He stared at his hands as if there was blood on them. Why was the angel talking to them and bring up the pain in each of their lives? She burned to ask. However the angel continued on. "Lusie. You have always seen your gift as a curse. Something that made you different and took your loving parents away from you. Jason. You see yourself as a monster. A demon that can only murder or hurt others. God has asked that you both now rely on one another to escape the torture you both face. Trust one another and maybe you will learn from each other what the other lacks." Jason laughed. Everyone stared at him. "Your crazy. God? What has God ever done to help me? Where was he when my father tortured me or put me under experiments?! He wasn't anywhere to be found. No matter how many times I prayed. The only one that helped me not be alone in the dark was the devil. You think a girl is going to earn my trust just cause she can talk to you or any other spirits? You can keep your lessons." Jason's voice rose. "You will do as your told kid. The devil doesn't need you anymore. God and him made a deal. This is your last chance to wash away the blood stained hands of sin your doctor of a father put on you. The one chance you get to be normal." The demon growled deeply with his arms crossed around his chest. Jason stared at him shocked. He could not believe his ears. He was being told he could save his soul if he got along with a girl he never met before today? "Um…excuse me." Lusie softly spoke. She flinched when all heads turned towards her. Oh how she really hated being put on the spot. Her throat always clamped up and her hands shook. Taking a deep breathe she tried to speak. "Not to sound disrespectful to anyone but why us? Or me? No offense but I was raised with the belief that god did not exist. So why would he suddenly decide for us two to pair up?" The angel smiled. " Oh he knows but this was never a sudden decision Lusie. He came to you himself dressed up in a homeless outfit saying he was your uncle to give you this gift. A gift that would lead you straight to Jason and for you both to grow together." Lusie was speechless. The night it all started that had terrified her every night was suppose to be a gift. One that lead her to some damaged guy. She couldn't believe this. Jason snorted. Drawing her gaze to him. His hands were fisted. "So God could not bother to save me instead he sends a little 5 foot girl after I'm all pleased with how I am?" Jason grumbled. "Oh I'm so sorry, I'm little! It is not like I wanted to be thrown into this hell hole with you just to save your soul!" Lusies face turned red with anger. Her fists were clenched at her side. "I think you have misunderstood. Both of you have. We are not saying this is to just save your soul Jason. No. You both share a soul. In fact by yourselves you have half a soul." The demon interrupted. "Yes. Exactly! God chose you both to live feeling different and missing a piece of something. That way when you met you could grow together. Be stronger." The angel added. Lusie and Jason had their mouths open surprised and slightly they understood. "Those times I woke up with scratches on my arms." Lusie whispered. She remembered the times she woke up in the middle of the night finding scratch marks down her arm. This was mainly as a child and usually at night. "The voices and knowing when a spirit is next to me." Jason muttered. Since he would have been in the 5th grade he could feel cold wind and started to shiver. Then some voice out of thin air would speak to him as if a person was next to him. As he grew older Jason realized it meant a ghost was close by and the ghost could tell his reaction to them. Which caused them to speak. Now the missing piece clicked. I was experiencing what she/he was, they both thought to themselves. They stared into each others eyes and thought of all the weird stuff that happened to them and knew its because the other had experienced it. All the pain Jason had gone through Lusie had marks that appeared but would fade away after a while. While Jason would slept he would dream of a place he had never been to with a garden or the ability with the dead. Though Jason normally communicated with demons when Lusie saw the less violent spirits connected to loved ones. The world turned completely black where they both could not see anything. All they heard was the angel and demon saying they had to work together to save their soul. Pain exploded in both them as their senses came back to earth. Jason groaned. He was on a cold surface and his body ached all over. He tried to sit up but something held him down. Jason opened his brown eyes and saw that chains were strapped around his ankles and wrists to a table. There was a light behind him that allowed him to take in his surroundings. He knew from the tables and treatment tools that he was in the farthest section of the building that kept storage tools. Jason was on the very top floor of the mental hospital locked in. He rested his head on the table and let the cold touch relax his nerves. Lusie woke up fuzzy. She could hear her grandfather calling her name several times. Pain was shooting from her wounds. She may have opened one or two from the fall. It felt like it to her. Lusie fluttered her eyes open and looked around. She was in her room. However she was strapped in and no one but her grandfather was around. All the patients were quiet. Lusie could not tell what time it was but it seemed dark. Her grandfather was trying to speak to her but her mind just could not catch what he was saying. Her eyesight turned blurry. The world turned black again. She fell asleep.
