The next one and half hour passed hearing about the people whom I had never met before. Mountains are starting to appear close. Sun is disappearing in the mountain. It’s getting dark already. Tall Trees of Sal, teak and shisham scattered on both side of the road. The car was passing over a steep hills. Mist had been form over the glass window. We were finally arrived at the border of Alnora. Several tall and muscular man, wearing all black with rifle in their hands standing next to the check post.
One of them comes closer to the car and ask my father in a hoarse voice. “ Sir, your ID please.”
My father hand it over to the man and after checking it for a minute he signalled us to go further.
We ahead further on the road which is surrounded by thick forest on one side. The forest was calm. The smell of rain lingering in the air. After ten minutes of driving we had arrived at the large bridge, which is the only way that connected forest to the residence. The river was flowing under the bridge. It was spring and runoff from the snow melt up in the mountains had caused the stream to become quite swift.
After crossing the bridge and passing through several houses we finally reached at our home.
“Look, our luggage is already reached.” My mom pointed towards the small truck which is unloading. I clutched the cold handle of the car and opened the door. The air is very stuffy as I stepped out from the car. It's fairly foggy and cold. I do a slight shiver before getting used to the cold atmosphere out here.
The fresh breeze blows through my hair, and it brings with it the scent of wild flowers and pine. The tall dark trees slightly swaying in the wind. I am facing a small wooden house. Few people, probably my dad’s staff member already finished the unloading and moved our luggage into the house. The street is quiet.
Mom, did you and papa lived here before? I asked my mom.
“No, we lived in down the hill. A lot has changed here. This is not the place we used to know.”
“Come on freshen up quick, we are getting late for the dinner.” My father reminded us.
I immediately felt warm as I entered in the house. The house is small and cozy. There is small front yard, with a bench. A lamp on the ceiling was the only source of light. A medium size hall with L shape sofa, a wooden T.V unit, curtains on the wall, and an Antique chandelier in the centre of the ceiling neatly placed. Floor is also wooden give the house dark look. Our house has A small kitchen and a two simple bedrooms with attached bathroom.
I quickly entered in the small bathroom and wash my face with warm water. I looked at my face in the oval shaped mirror. I have bags under my eyes and I look tired. I opened my bag and take out my clothes. I put on blue jeans and simple white T-shirt, and comb my black hair and set them free. I don’t have time for makeup so I apply some lipgloss and some face cream to save my skin from cold weather.
When I exited from my room, my mom was already waiting for me. she is looking gorgeous in her pink punjabi suit which is suited her fair skin.
“How do I look? she excitedly asked me, spreading her dupatta(stall) as wide as her smile.
“You look always pretty mom.”My complement always satisfied her most. Actually she looks good in anything she wear. The definition of a woman comes true by looking at her. I inherited a curvy body from her, but I am totally opposite from her in nature.
“ Take a picture of me. I want to post it on Instagram.” She comes to me handed me her mobile.
“ Not now, mom. We’ll be late.” I grabbed her hand and gently pulled her outside and locked the house.
“What are you doing both of you? My dad asked.
“Nothing. I was just telling her that, I’ll take a photo of both of you after dinner.” I said while adjusting myself on the back seat. My mother sits next to me. As soon as we closed the car door, the driver drove off.
