The Interview
Lena Hart smoothed her blazer nervously as the elevator doors opened to the 52nd floor of Cole Enterprises. Sleek glass walls, polished marble floors, and the faint scent of expensive leather greeted her. This was the pinnacle of her dreams: working for Ethan Cole, the billionaire CEO whose name alone commanded respect and fear.
The secretary led her to the office. Ethan stood by the window, hands clasped behind his back, staring at the city skyline. His gray eyes were sharp, unreadable, and intimidating.
“You’re late,” he said flatly.
“Traffic, sir,” Lena stammered.
“Excuses waste time,” he replied, turning his attention to her résumé. Every movement was precise, measured, like a man who controlled everything — and everyone — around him.
He asked questions she hadn’t anticipated: about ethics, ambition, and how she handled failure. Lena answered honestly, her heart racing. When it was over, she left the office convinced she had failed.
Her phone buzzed that night.
Ethan Cole: Report Monday. You’re hired.
Lena’s smile was small but genuine. She had no idea that accepting this job would pull her into a world of secrets, danger, and a man whose past was darker than she could imagine. Every day would challenge her, every glance from him would make her heart race, and soon, she would find herself questioning what she could trust — and who she could trust — in a world filled with power, ambition, and hidden truths.
