Freya's POV As the gates of the Russell family mansion swung open before me and I could feel my heart pounding against my chest as I stared at the mansion not too far away from where the taxi I was in stayed, waiting to be cleared. Gladly, the taxi was allowed in and I was in awe of the beautiful surroundings I just found myself in. I just couldn't believe it. The garden looked beautiful from the side I was in and I could see a large fountain in the middle of the garden with a crest. I could only assume it was the family crest. The taxi was stopped by a guard and I hurriedly got out before paying him. I then looked up at the mansion which was towering over me and I couldn't help but feel a hint of nervousness. The house looked beautiful with different balconies clearly seen and they were all decorated in a way to perfectly fit the structure of the house and the beauty didn't look off. “Wow, this is what massive wealth can do.” I mumbled. With a deep breath, I approached the imposing from door which was flanked by stone lions and right in front of the large double doors stood two guards in a rather traditional style with a mix of modernity dressing. They were silent and it made the tension I was feeling even higher. Not that I was expecting them to say anything but the nervousness was getting to me. The doors swung open to reveal the beautiful place on the other side. The room I was stepping in was bathed in the soft glow of crystal chandeliers and marble floors. The large curtains were still down as it covered the floor to ceiling windows. “You must be the new interviewee.” A soft and silky voice called and I looked up to see a woman elegantly dressed and standing there with her hands held in front of her. Her beautiful black hair was styled in a half ponytail with some loose strands. She didn't look old at all and I wondered if she was actually the mother of the most sought after bachelor. Her dress wasn't too shouty as it was just a simple but elegantly blue dress. “Yes, madam.” I bowed my head gently. “Come over dearie.” She waved me over with a bright smile. “Freya, I presume.” “Yes, madam.” I replied again, now almost reaching her before she turned towards an open door. “That's a beautiful name. I am delighted that you're here for your interview. I am Blair Russell. I'm sure you've heard so much about me.” She turned her head slightly to give me a warm smile. We walked in through the door and down another hallway. I caught a glimpse of all the staff already working there as they bowed to Mrs Russell as I walked past them with her. As we entered the living room, I found myself surrounded by silence. The only thing making it not completely silent was the lady seated on one of the expensive looking sofas going through what seemed to be like clothes. Mrs Russell motioned for me to take a seat, and I complied, my heart pounding against my chest in nervousness as the other lady looked at me with a searching and not so welcoming look. I sat opposite her before Mrs Russell sat on a single sofa on my left. Mrs Russell started to question me and I answer her as best as I could and as professional as I could. The other lady's presence only added to my unease as her disapproving glances only added to my nervousness. Finally, Mrs Russell leaned back in her chair, the maid who had walked in stood next to her and poured her a cup of tea, but that didn't stop the thoughtful expression on her face from showing. “Well, Freya, I must say I'm impressed.” Mrs Russell's voice tinged with approval as she looked at me. “Are you sure mother?” Our other companion interjected almost instantly, still throwing me a not so pleasant glance. “I trust my instincts Maria.” Mrs Russell replied, the gentleness not leaving her tone. “I like her and she seems great. It has been a while since I saw someone as open as she is.” Maria. I have heard that name once. I wondered why she looked so familiar. She was none other than Maria Miller, one of the A-list actress in the city. “I still do not like her.” Maria grumbled as she dumped the expensive looking clothes on the sofa next to her, asking one of the maids to come over. “Well, Freya would be the one taking care of everything that had to do with Ryder when he arrives.” Mrs Russell said and Maria turned to look at her in disbelief. “You can't be serious, mother.” “Ryder is my son, Freya.” Mrs Russell ignored Maria's protest. “He will be returning from abroad and he pretty much doesn't like any maid in this house.” I wondered if Ryder was the one. The only thing I could remember from four years ago was Russell. There were rumors of the family having more than one son and they both used their family names. Could this Ryder be the Russell? “Stop thinking about it, Freya.” I shook my head before letting out a sigh. “You can start tomorrow.” Mrs Russell broke into my thoughts. “You can decide to stay in the mansion or report every morning before 6 am. But mind you, this few days left for Ryder's arrival, it'll be busy. He is taking over the company officially up this arrival and the preparations for the party is already ongoing, but you'll be in charge once you start.” “Mother, you can't give her an important responsibility like that? Ryder's arrival should be handled by someone who fitted the position more and although you chose her, I don't trust her to handle my baby's arrival.” Maria said with a pout and Mrs Russell just chuckled before looking back at me. “Do you understand, sweetheart?” She asked and I nodded gently with a smile before she lifted herself from the seated position she was in. “Come dear, let me give you a personal tour around the house.” Mrs Russell held out her hand and I took it gently before she pulled me along. I could feel Maria staring daggers into me as I walked off with the woman. “What's wrong with her? I haven't even met her once.” I thought as I cringed at her behavior. She was the opposite of what she fakes online. “To get away from Maria…” Mrs Russell started as we walked down the hallway which was adorned with lots of paintings and unlike the outer part we just came from, it wasn't as lavish but I could see expensive paintings worth millions of dollars on the walls. “Maria is someone you'll just have to avoid if you want your peace of mind. She's a handful.” I noticed Mrs Russell didn't say it with hatred but she slightly chuckled and she completed her words. “This is Ryder's quarters.” She said, pointing towards a hallway that looked like it wasn't part of the entire mansion. “It's a lot larger than this but you should get a good glimpse once you return and…” “Blair.” A masculine voice called from behind and I turned to see the middle aged man walking towards us. A cane in his hands but it didn't seem like the cane was necessary and just seemed like it was just an ornament. “Darling.” Mrs Russell walked over to him with a bright smile and wrapped her arms around his waist for a hug. “You're back.” “Yes, and who is she?” He asked, pointing his cane in my direction, not exactly an excited look on his face. “She's the one I've been talking to you about, darling.” Mrs Russell said to him with bright smile but his expression didn't change one bit. Talking to him about? Did she know about me before now?
