Kate's pov " Is that her? The one you told me about, you made a good choice." the lady who was our waitress had said to Devon and I saw a tint of pink forming on his cheek. I wonder what could make the Dragon blush. " No Doris, she's my new assistant and will accompany me everywhere. " When we returned to the office, he returned to his grumpy self. Soon the day was over and I was glad because, well, let's face it, that work is pretty hard because it's random. At least being a spy is easy. I mean, being in battle is easy. You make a plan to take down the enemy and follow the said plan, unlike this job, where you have to do a bunch of things that are not connected at all. When I got home, I found Ally doing her homework. She has grown in the past year. " Hey. Ally, how was school? " I asked her while dropping my keys in the bowl near the door. " pretty good" she replied and then she looked up at me before returning her attention to the paper in front of her. I then headed to the kitchen and got started on dinner, which was mashed potatoes and chicken. When I returned to the living room, I realized that Ally was not in the spot where she had been before and just assumed that she was in her room playing with her toys. So I headed back to the kitchen to finish making dinner when I heard my phone ringing and the caller ID had Sophie's name. "Hello? " I spoke into the phone. " Hello, Hello, Kate come pick me up from the airport. "She sounded panicky, so I shouted up to Ally letting her know that I had an errand to run and heard a muffled okay from her room. I got into my car and headed for the airport. When I got there, I searched the outside of the airport for five minutes till I spotted a brunette hunched over in a corner. She appeared to be cradling a body and when I got closer, I could hear her sniffling. I rushed up to her to find a scene that you would only see in CSI: a girl hunched over a bloody boy while crying. " Soph?" I called out to her, making her look up at me but then quickly looked back at the guy whose head was in her lap. " You came, " she whispered and I could see the happiness mixed with pain and sadness. I got to my knees, gently took the boy in my arms, and put him in the back seat. I then helped her to her feet and he both got into the car and drove off. We got home and placed Rosie's friend on the couch. I then headed up to the bathroom and picked up the med_kit before returning to where my sister was talking to the guy, whose name I soon learned was Matt. "Don't worry, everything will be okay. I watched him as best as I could. Not to brag, but my medical skills rival those of an actual doctor because I had to train as one for a while. After I finished dressing his wounds and giving him something for the pain, I invited Sophie to join me in the kitchen. And she obliged, following me into the kitchen. " Who is he? And what happened to him? " I asked without wasting time. "He's my friend and we both got mugged, okay? I panicked and Matt tried to stand up for me and fight off the muggers but…" she stopped as she sobbed and her body shook. I put my arm around her shoulders, giving her a side hug. " It's alright now, he's going to be fine and so are you, okay, don't worry," I reassured her soothingly and she rested her head on my shoulder. We stayed like that for a while then I realized that Ally had not eaten her dinner so I took a plate of food upstairs to her. She sat at her desk looking at a framed picture. It was a picture we had taken as a family right before the accident that claimed our parents' lives. "Ally, dinner, " I said, placing the plate on her desk and then headed out and back downstairs where I handed Rossie a plate and we both ate. Soon we had finished dinner and I left both of them to get settled in the guest rooms. I lay in bed for a few hours thinking about my sisters and Devon. I also wondered why I hadn't found any leads during this investigation. I also wondered why I could not figure him out. He seemed just as flippant as the weather. His moods shifted so quickly that if I had to describe him in one word, it would be chameleon. With these words on my mind, I drifted off to sleep. I handed him his coffee. I stopped by the coffee shop before coming here. After I learned his schedule, I now execute the tasks with so much ease. I mean much as I have to move around a lot, I have grown quite fond of this job. But my other task has hit a brick wall. I have no leads and no evidence to accomplish this mission. now I have to make a choice, one that will impact the mission heavily. Looking out of my car window, I watched as a boy was being helped to ride his bike. The bike wobbled for a while before going straight when his parents let go of the bike. The boy's laughter rang out, followed by his parents cheering him loudly. The image reminded me of better times before everything became complicated. Katie stopped. My mother laughed as I and Dad tickled her. She had a big smile on her face. We were outside in the garden. My hair was covered in grass and so was my mother's. Only my father had clean hair, but it wouldn't be for much longer as I jumped up onto his shoulders and grabbed a hand full of grass and rubbed it in his hair. he chuckled and lifted me off his shoulders and attacked me with tickles, causing me to shriek with laughter and then my mother joined in. her bright blue eyes shone with happiness. her Tummy was big indicating that she was almost due. with Sophie. her deep brown hair was left loose as it hung below her shoulders. my father had ocean-green eyes and jet-black hair that were now full of grass. in the distance, the sun was setting over the trees giving the horizon an orange glow. my sister opened the car door of the back seat pulling me out of my trance
