CHAPTER 1 WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY.
On the floor, A woman could be seen lying down on a mattress, she was pale and thin if someone looked carefully you might think she was a kid but she was a grown woman. *cough cough* she coughed softly, she was trying so much to keep it that way because coughing hard was making her lungs hurt. A girl about eight or seven years old ran in the woman's direction when she heard her cough. "Mama Mama.....She cried not knowing what to do when she saw blood on her Mother's wounded lips......should I call the neighbor Mama?" "No dear I am fine," she replied her voice rather softer than ever she looked like she didn't have much time left, she glanced at the clock that was ticking on the wall in front of her then at the door, she was waiting for someone. "Mama you're not, see you're coughing blood." She cried. "Don't worry dear everything is going to be fine."She reassured. *knock knock* a knock came from the door startling Ava, she looked at her mother, they were not expecting anyone. "Go on dear, open the door." Ava just went to open the door without any questions, Opening the door revealed a tall man clad in a dark peach suit that was matched with black Oxford shoes, he had two sturdy men standing beside him one on the left and the other on the right with some dark glasses. The way he was dressed together with the bulky men Ava noticed that he must be a rich man but wait, who was he? And what did he want here? "How can I help you sir?" Came her little voice. "I am looking for Dorca is she in?" The man asked removing his glasses in a gentle voice. "My mother?" she asked with curiosity. The man cowered down so that his level could match hers. He stared intently at her cute little face she had red eyes he wondered if she had been crying. "Is she your mother?" "Yes, she is, why are you looking for her? I don't think she can see you." "She will, she was the one who asked me to come." "Oh,,, Okay get in." "Wait for me here." The tall man said to his men in an authorized voice. "Yes Sir." The two men replied in unison. The man followed the little girl inside, his eyes fell on the woman lying down on the mattress, and his eyes changed as his heart sank. What happened to her? why was she in that condition? What was going on? "Ava bring the stool for the guest to sit." Came Dorca's pale voice. "Sebastian thank you for coming, I won't take much of your time.....A...Ava is your daughter." She cried. "Sorry, what did you say?" He asked puzzled, he already suspected something like that the moment he met her by the door they had some resemblance but he didn't think much about it. "Yes, she is, when I left that day I found out I was pregnant but I couldn't reach you to tell you." "Mama, what did you just say? You said my father died before I was born." "No dear I lied, he is your Father." Ava's cute little eyes meet Sebastian's, Sebastian could see the surprise on her face just like him even though he was surprised but not that much. When he first received a phone call from her he couldn't believe it, he was happy he was going to see her after a long time of separation, their relationship was shattered eight years ago, he wanted to see her badly only to find her in that condition it broke his heart into pieces. His mother forcefully threw her out after finding out about their affair, by then he already had a family a wife, and a son. Back then she was a beautiful woman, she had the most beautiful eyes combined with stunning features that any guy could die for, she was an exquisite woman he stole his heart with her seductive features, but now she looked different, what happened to her? He held himself from asking. "Why are you telling me this now?" He knew that was a stupid question that he shouldn't ask, he could see the situation. "Because I don't have much time left and I don't have anyone in this world to leave her with please just take care of her, she is your daughter." She cried. "Dorca I have a family and you know that; you don't just expect me to take her to my house and tell my wife that I have a daughter." He stated with a stern face that he did not understand, why was he being harsh on her if not for this disease he would never have found out that he had a daughter, her condition must be the reason, he did not like her in that state. Ava looked at the man her mother just declared as her father stating those words and her heart ached her mother was going to leave this world soon and her father didn't want her. "Pl...ease.... she pleaded trying to stand up but due to her aching body, she couldn't Ava quickly ran to her side to help her tears streaming down her cute little face... please Sebastian just take care of her she has no one," Dorca cried. "Or help my Mama to get better so that I wouldn't have to come with you," Ava added. "No dear this disease can't be cured is in its last stage even if they try it won't be possible they will be wasting money, just listen go with your dad and always listen to him okay, give me your words that you will do that, okay dear." She was becoming pale and paler by the second. "Okay, Mama I will do that." She cried. "Sebastian give me your words that you will take care of our daughter." she ushered her skinny hands to him, and Sebastian reluctantly held her hands while staring at her. "I give you my words, I will look after our daughter." He stated scrutinizing at her hands that were slowly slipping away from his. "Thank you." She cried looking at her daughter who had her face stained with tears all over. "I love you, my daughter." "I love you too Mama, I wish you could stay with me Mama to watch me grow." she cried holding her mother closer. "I am so..." Like that, she didn't utter another word and Ava was forced to watch her mother slip away from her in front of her. "Mama, Mama please don't leave me." She cried and Sebastian left her to weep as he discreetly wiped the tears that formed in his eyes, after doing so he put on his glasses to hide his teary eyes. two hours later. "Ava we have to go." she stared at her mother one more time then uttered with a cracking voice. "I love you Mama I will always love you." she kissed her forehead and then she stood up. She didn't utter a word again she just stood up wiped her face and went where her clothes were to pack. "You don't need to pack anything I will get you everything you need let's go." she just obeyed, she just took her mom's photo, and dipped it inside her pocket. "Take care of everything burial should be tomorrow I am going to be there." He gave orders to the men who were standing guard by the door. The two men only Nodded they were not able to comprehend what was going on in this area. Sebastian held Ava's little hands towards the big black Mercedes Benz which had another man standing outside the door not far away from her home. "Let's go" Sebastian Commanded. "Where to sir?" Ben asked since he didn't know where they were taking the little one who was crying her eyes staring outside the window. Ava stared outside the window at the area where she had been living for the last eight years this had been her home ever since she was born but now it was not going to be anymore. "Home." Sebastian was almost shouting. "Okay, sir." Ben quickly started the engine and they left with Ben staring at his boss in the rearview mirror. Ava poured her heart out as the car left the place she knew she would never see this place again, she didn't mind as her loud cry filled the car, tomorrow was the last day she was going to see her mother after the burial there would never be any sign of her mother, it ached her heart but there was nothing she could do. Sebastian stared at Ava that little girl was her daughter, now she didn't have anyone but him in this whole world. He took her into his embrace as she continued sobbing he kept tapping her hair until she fell asleep. When Ava woke up she was welcomed by the most enormous house she had ever seen in this whole world. Was this going to be her new home? That was the question going through her head as she stared at the giant house in front of her. Was she going to live here? how was life going to be without her mother? all her life the only person she knew was her mother but now she was not here. "Pauline," Sebastian called one of the servants who was in a hurry to climb the stairs. "Yes Sir." She went to him her eyes happened to land on the little girl her Master was holding hands with. "Make one of the bedrooms upstairs on the second floor." The lady heard but her concentration was on the little girl. "Pauline."Sebastian roared. "Ye...yes sir I will." She left but her eyes kept peeking at the little girl Wondering who the little girl was. "What is going on here? Why did you shout Pauline's name like that son? And who is that little girl?" An elegant elderly lady emerged. Her face wrinkled, and she had gray hair despite all of that she still looked elegant. "Dad you are ho." A boy could be seen running towards his father but when he arrived where his father was, he froze his dad was holding a little girl's hand. Who was she? Jealousy was written all over his face. "Dad who is she?" His excitement completely vanished. "Yes, son who is she?" The elderly lady seconded, she was running out of patience as her heart seemed to be pounding hard, she didn't understand for what reason. "She is Ava Sinclair She is my Daughter." The elderly lady almost fell but she regained her composure. "What did you just say, Sebastian?" An elegant pregnant lady who seemed to be in her early thirties asked, Pauline was holding her they were standing at the last staircase.
