MOON'S POV
I was walking around when suddenly someone bumped into me.
"Hey! Watch o---" I stopped when I saw him.
"Miss, are you okay?" His voice alone was handsome to hear.
"Y-yes," I stared at the man before me now. He's my ideal type. H-A-N-D-S-O-M-E.
His fair complexion, short black back, and medium sides look good on him. His square jawline and chiseled face make him hotter. I'm in love with this man, and my eyes get stuck on his beautiful black almond-set eyes.
I paused in my daydreaming when he snapped his fingers in front of me.
"I said, Miss, I'm sorry," I nodded.
"Ah! Yes, I'm sorry too for not looking where I was going."
"By the way, do you have company?"
"No, I don't. Do you want me to accompany you?" I slapped my forehead at what I just said. I don't know why I said that.
"Sure, I never say no to someone beautiful." He winked at me, and it felt like an electric shock ran through me with his words.
We walked around, which was comfortable, even though no one opened a conversation. We feel comfortable with each other even though we just met.
"By the way, what's your name?" the man asked.
"I'm Moon, and you are?"
"Cirrus."
"Cool name, huh? Our names match Moon and Cloud, kidding!" he grinned at what I said.
"I like you," I was stunned by his words. It's like a voice in my head was singing, 'I think I'm falling in love with you.'
Wow, this girl flirts quickly, falling in love with a man you just met.
Shut up, brain. Mind your own business.
"I like you too," I said after being electrocuted by his words.
"Let's sit down for a while," he said, and sat on a bench we found.
He was silent, so I looked at him closely. I could see the sadness in his beautiful eyes.
"What's your problem?"
"Huh?" he asked, confused.
"I can read you like an open book. What's your problem?"
"Excuse me! Do I know you?"
"Ouch! That was offensive," he grinned at what I said, "But isn't that better? You don't know me so I won't spread your problem, and it's possible we won't see each other again after this." He sighed.
"I feel suffocated. I'm a grown-up now, but my parents still make decisions for me even though I don't want them, and I'm not happy anymore. From my course, my school, choosing the girl I court, choosing everything, they always decide for me." His voice was filled with frustration and sadness.
"You know, I don't know what I should say. It's hard because it's suffocating, but I can't help but feel envious of you." He turned to me and caught me staring at him, but I didn't look away from his gaze.
"Why?" he asked, and I averted my gaze even though I could still feel his eyes on me.
"I don't have parents anymore; they vanished 15 years ago."
"Vanished? Disappeared? How?" I shrugged.
"I don't know either. I was just a teenager back then, and they told me they were going to a meeting, but they never returned. I tried looking for them, asking their acquaintances, but no one knew anything. I reported it to the police, but nothing happened; they dismissed my report. Until now, I still don't know what happened to them, where they are, or if they're still alive." I was startled when Cirrus held my face and turned it towards him. He wiped my tears with his handkerchief, and I realized I was crying. After he finished wiping, I immediately removed his hand from my face.
"How did you survive if you were just a teenager when they disappeared?"
"My friend's family took me in, and his parents supported me until I could stand on my own feet." I looked at him when he gently held my hands.
"I will help you find the answers about your parents. I promise." I didn't know why, but I felt like holding onto his words, even if there was only a slight chance of us meeting again.
"Really? How?"
"What are your parent's names?"
"Lui--" I stopped when my cell phone rang. "Wait! I need to answer this call."
"Sure."
"Why?"
"Where are you? Come home; I'm at your house; there's an emergency."
"Wait? What happened?"
"Just come home now." My friend was so bossy.
"Okay," I quickly ended the call.
"I'm sorry, Cirrus, I need to go. Bye," I said and ran even though I was wearing heels.
"Wait, you--" I couldn't hear what he said because I was already far away.
I'M HERE at the headquarters of the Quezon City Police Department. My friend was rude; he was pranking me, and he was not even at my house. My conversation with that handsome guy got cut off, and I didn't even get his number.
We're waiting for our new superior to arrive, and he will assign us our mission. We're all standing in formation, and I'm at the end in the middle. Just as we were waiting, we saluted when he arrived. He marched towards my position.
"You?" we both said at the same time. The police officers who were with us lost their composure.
"I'm sorry," he said. "I am Chief Inspector Cirrus Raziel Ferrer; just call me Chief Ferrer," he introduced himself. He's the one I talked to and ran away from yesterday.
"Sir, yes, sir," we all said together.
"Dismissed, and as for the Senior Inspector, I'm here to assign you a new mission. Let's talk privately." He turned around, and everyone dispersed, and I followed him to his office.
I need to act professionally. I only sat down once he told me to.
"You may sit down," I sat down as he instructed.
"Chief Ferrer, what's my new mission?"
"Here's the file. I'm assigning you to lead the investigation into the rampant drug dealers here in Quezon City. Help me suppress the syndicate supplying drugs in our area."
"I'm on it, sir. If there's nothing you need, I'll excuse myself," I said and stood up.
"Wait, Senior Inspector Sanchez." I got nervous when he said that. I slowly turned as if I were in a horror movie.
"Yes, Chief?" He raised his index finger and motioned for me to come closer, which I did.
"When it's just the two of us, just call me Cirrus," he said softly.
"I can't do that, Chief."
"Yes, you will. It's my order, and..." he trailed off.
"And?"
"I have your police ID and police badge. I won't give them back unless you promise to stay professional when we're just in front of other police officers." I was dumbfounded by what he said. Is this guy serious? How did he become a Chief Inspector when he didn't seem to take anything seriously?
"But--"
"No buts, and besides, there's something I take seriously." I was taken aback by his words. Is this guy a mind reader?
"I'm not a mind reader. Like you said last night, I can read you like an open book." I touched my forehead in response to what he said and sat back down.
"Fine, Cirrus, can I have my Police ID and badge now?"
"Make me do it."
"Are you serious? We're in the police department! You're being too playful."
"As long as it's only you I'm being playful with," he said, winking at me. Save me, please, this guy is annoying, but he looks more handsome when he flirts.
"I don't know about you, Cirrus."
"Hey! Moon is blushing."
"Call me, Inspector Sanchez, S-A-N-C-H-E-Z," I spelled it to ensure he understood.
"You said last night you're Moon, and I'm Cloud, so we match," he winked again. Seriously? What's wrong with this guy? He's so flirtatious.
"I'm so done with this." I stood up, but he held my hand, stopping me.
"Just kidding! Here's your badge and ID."
"Thanks." I removed his hand from mine and was about to walk away.
"Just wait! What did I tell you? I'll help you find your parents. What are their names again?" I returned to my seat. I know that with the position I have now, I can do it on my own, but I still want him to help me.
"Luisa and Alvin Sanchez."
"Sure thing, Angel."
"Angel? For your information, my name is not Angel."
"I know, but you're like an angel to me." I was speechless at what he said.
"You're being annoying."
"How about love?"
"Hey! Love? Someone might overhear you, oh! We'll get in trouble."
"I am the law here, so they can't do anything."
"Oh, please! I'm leaving."
"Bye, love," I rolled my eyes even though he couldn't see it because I was already walking away.
I don't know what's happening to that guy, but even though it sounds cheesy to others, he electrifies me. I don't want to show it because I might fall for him if I continue this, but he's friendly and playful, my 'love' or my superior.
