Alex, a young and successful businessman suffering from cancer, visits his estranged grandfather, hoping to make amends before he dies. But as soon as he steps foot in his grandfather's house, the Whisperwood, he begins to experience healing. However, when he returns to his own home, the cancer returns, forcing him to come back to the Whisperwood. Unfortunately, his grandfather passes away, leaving Alex to inherit the large estate and a mysterious legacy. As a series of deaths resembling his grandfather's occur in the town, Alex discovers that his grandfather was a werewolf and the leader of a powerful pack. He also discovers that his grandfather's death was not natural and that someone is after the pack's ancient relic, the Talisman, which holds the power to control the werewolf curse. Alex is unable to leave the town as leaving would bring his cancer back and meets a young and ambitious archaeologist, Dr. Emma, under strange circumstances. Together they team up to uncover the truth about the Talisman and the pack's legacy, but as Alex stays away from the Whisperwood, his health deteriorates. Eventually, Alex is inducted into the pack and starts to experience changes in his body. However, he discovers that the Talisman has been stolen by a secret organization, which is experimenting with the curse, trying to weaponize it. With the help of the pack and Emma, Alex sets out to retrieve the Talisman and stop the organization's nefarious plans. But just as he defeats the rogue werewolf and retrieves the Talisman, Emma steals the Talisman and disappears, revealing that she was not real but one of the rogue werewolf's clones. Now, Alex must hunt down all of the rogue werewolf's clones and cleanse him off the face of the earth forever, before he can use the Talisman to weaponize the curse and destroy the entire werewolf species. But as trust within the pack deteriorates and one of them is discovered to be another of the rogue werewolf's clones, Alex must find a way to stop him before it's too late.

As Alex becomes more deeply involved in the pack and the search for the rogue werewolf, he begins to notice a beautiful and fierce werewolf, named Sarah. Though initially focused on his mission, he can't help but be drawn to her. As they work together to track down the rogue werewolf's clones, they find themselves getting closer and closer. But as they begin to fall for each other, they soon realize that Sarah is a key member of the secret organization that is weaponizing the curse, and that she was using Alex to retrieve the Talisman for her own gain. Alex is torn between his duty to protect the pack and his growing feelings for Sarah, and must make a difficult decision about who to trust and where his loyalties lie.

Prologue
Prologue New Orleans. The city was a veritable labyrinth of concrete and steel, its streets slick with rain and pulsating with the energy of a million souls. Yet for Alex, it was nothing but a prison. The pack of rogue werewolves had been closing in on him for days, their eyes aglow with a feral hunger as they relentlessly pursued him. He had always been aware that his life would be fraught with danger and darkness, but he never imagined it would culminate in such a dire predicament. The streets were deserted at this hour, the only sound the pounding of his own heart as he fled for dear life. He could hear the pack behind him, their snarls and howls growing louder with each passing second. He pushed himself to the brink, his heart pounding in his chest as he careened around corners, dodged through alleys, and leapt over discarded trash. But the pack was relentless. They were faster, stronger, and they would not be denied their quarry. The glimmer of hope appeared on the horizon as he spotted the light of the nearest subway station in the distance. He redoubled his efforts, sprinting towards it with all the speed he could muster. He could feel the hot breath of the lead werewolf on the nape of his neck as he stumbled down the steps and onto the platform, his lungs burning with exertion. The train was just pulling into the station and with a final burst of energy, he lunged for the door and pulled himself inside, slamming it shut just as the first werewolf reached it. He collapsed onto the floor, his body trembling with adrenaline as the train pulled away and he was finally, blessedly, safe. But the pack would not be deterred so easily. They would be waiting for him when he emerged. And Alex knew that this was only the beginning of the end. A never-ending cycle of running and hiding, a life on the run, forever looking over his shoulder, forever waiting for the next attack. He knew that his life would never be the same again. And at that moment, of all the many voices ringing in his head, his grandfather's took prominence—the very words he uttered with his dying breath. “Drown the devil,” he’d said, the life force draining out of him. And that is what he kept repeating till the last atom of oxygen gave up on its duty.
