Unexpected interruption
There was no doubt in her mind that she was unfortunate in her birth. Everyone else seemed excited for her sake but Griselda Gladwin was not excited at all. Excitment about the very publisized marriage between herself and that horrible man was the last thing on her mind. The latest In line for Kingship in Baldovia did not mean he was the most suitable candidate. The very handsome Duke James Landry, well at least he is a great looking man, to say the least.
How could she be excited about marriage to someone she did not know at all. Her whole life was a bad joke. Her father was a arrogant, narcissistic small man. He was still her father and the King of Rustenburg the Kingdom next to Baldovia where her new husband would be waiting for her.
The new husband to be was a rouge as he was plastered all over the internet as a lady's man.
Her anger towards him was mostly his good looks as he had that pirate look that grainy photos could not eliminate. She saw pictures of him in newspapers, it was not always easy to see his face clearly. Her father was eager for her to marry this would be King who should not be inline to the thrown at all.
Instead she should have been marrying someone else in his family. The only problem was that her new husband to be was a good for nothing billionaire who did not deserve to be rich. It was well known that he was rich because he stole his family's wealth and kept the proceeds for himself. Naturally this was a rumor but she was inclined to believe these stories, especially when pictures of his exploits were readily publicized.
The mere fact that such a man is now left to run a country was beyond her understanding.
Griselda had many preconceived notions of her husband to be she was coming straight from a convent after all. Her wretched father had kept her there. Fortunately there had been wifi otherwise things would have been extremely difficult for her. Especially the bordom which she was sure was supposed to be in a convent school. The nuns were strict and to the point.
Griselda was sitting with her luggage at the the airport waiting for a flight to Baldovia. Her father had messed up the country's economy, that was her opinion at least he could have sent her with the private plane with their countries emblem on it.
Her father did not respect her as his daughter all he wanted to do was get rid of
her as he told her she was just a money pit,
whatever that meant.
This strange exchange was mainly made to make her feel inadequate about herself. She has never felt this alone before. She was alone many times at the convent but this airport with all this people made her feel alone in the world. She was traveling economy class. Not first class tickets for her even if this was the last time her father as befitting a princess, her father and her country would never get to see her again. as there princess but she was never treated as if she was special. Why should they die so now? She was ashamed of her father's so called poverty call. She imagined herself as a virginal sacrificial lamb for her country.
She had her mother's jewelry with her, she decided it was best if she tried to disappear instead of going to Baldovia she would not wait for the plane to refuel but she would get off the plane at the next stop. This plane had important cargo that had to be delivered and the refueling would be done.
Why could she not find her own way in life. Many other people have done that. A diamond necklace could be taken apart as the chain could be sold separately from the pendant. Griselda would definitely benefit by doing just that, she has now made up her mind and hugging herself as she sat at the airport she makes a dash for the toilet. She has basically brought all her clothes with her in a fairly large duffle bag, she is into the toilet and dresses in haste. The clothes she has on is changed by simply turning her coat around as this one has a fur inside. She puts a wig on and makeup. When she looks into the mirror she sees another person looking back at her.
Griselda is a brave girl, she has left the airport. What would her father do if he heard about what she has just done. She is so very much afraid of reprisals but mercifully her father is now permanently out of her life.
She is not worried what the King of Baldovia is going to say, it definitely does not matter what a complete stranger has to say about anything else.
As Griselda is thinking all these things she is surprised to find herself outside the airport on a deserted street. She never even noticed where she had been walking...
Her mother would have known what to do about most things especially now that she has basically dishonored her father and her country, by escaping from a loveless marriage. She was never the people's princess in anycase. Her parents where happy expecting a baby or so she was told by her father who she could never trust.
The truth is that underneath her bravado Griselda is afraid as she is standing under a light , it is now growing dark. Griselda is in an unknown city without money, all she has of value is her mother's jewelry that she took from the secret locker her mother told her about when she discovered a letter written to her in a book on the bookshelf in the study.
She had never known her mother, so finding a letter written by her mother addressed to her was a wonderful miraculous find.
That was a year ago, she read the letter and did the treasure hunt for the jewelry. She found them and here she is with her mother's jewelry and she knows her mothers blessings as well.
This should be a quiet road but a long black car stops infront of her. A man with a American accent is sitting in the backseat. He says "Get inside, I will only say this once., or my men will throw you inside."
Griselda is so stunned at this strange development but what else can she do. She gets into the sleek black limousine only to find the man sitting there is her husband to be...
